I think it depends from person to person. I personally lost 3 lbs. my first trimester. Due to Vomiting. If you are worried about it, talk to your dr.
Good luck hun!! and congrads!! Wow 6 kids!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much if you are eating healthy foods and not overeating.  How many calories should you be consuming?  Are you doing any type of exercise - not strenuous, but walking or swimming??  Did you gain a lot in your previous pregnancies?  I gained 50 lbs with both of my girls - way above the recommended amount, and with hard work and determination I was able to shed the baby pounds within a year (even while nursing).  By the way, congrats on your little one on the way!

I am on my third child and the first two I gained 40 pounds each.  I was determined this time not to gain that much since I had not lost all of the weight.  I then decided to change my diet to a totaly vegan diet.  I have thus gained 3 pounds and I am 28 weeks.  My doctor says that the baby is fine.  It is going to depend on what you are eating.  If the food is fatty and you are drinking and eating a lot of dairy then you will probably gain more this time depending on what you are consuming.  You will also probably gain more if you are not as active as you were with the others.

I'm sure with 5 already, you are VERY active! LOL I have 5 and know the way that goes. People always asked me how I lost the baby weight? Well I have kids to take care of, that is the BEST weight loss program, being a mommy. Anyways, it would all depend on YOU. Are you a small lady? I was 98 pounds when I found out I was pregnant the first time and was given permission to gain as much as I could. This would not be the case for someone that was already their ideal weight or over. So it should be something to talk about with your doc. I personally don't think that 10 in first trimester is all that bad. 10 for each trimester is only 30 pounds and most docs and books say that is a normal and safe amount to gain. My philosphy was always to eat what my body craved. Some weeks all I wanted was fish. Other weeks it was milk and cheese. Your body has a way of wanting and craving what it needs and balancing a diet. Just like kids do. If you allow a child to eat what they want from their dinner plate, don't be upset if all they choose is the peas or the mac-n-cheese, because tomorrow they may focus more on the rice or green beans. Nature and our bodies are an amazing thing!
Congrats on Baby #6. With 5 of my own you are now MY HERO! LOL

I have 5 children, also.  I noticed I gained weight a lot faster
in my later pregnancies.  I think it has something to do with
my muscle tone in my stomach.  I didn't show till I was 5
months along with my first one.  I think I showed right away
on my 5th one.  As far as going on a vegan diet, I would talk
to my doctor on that one.  You definitely need protein to en-
sure a healthy baby.

10 lbs in the first trimester can be a variety of things, water weight, the wonder of our slowing digestive tract absorbs more nutrients, etc.

As long as you know you aren't shoveling in donuts by the dozen, I woudn't be too worried. It tends to balance out in the end.
