29 yo with clear fluid leaking from left breast and no period since having baby 11 months ago very fatigued! Confused & Concerned!!! Plz HELP!

Today I noticed a large round wet spot on my shirt (wearing no bra). I had just finished feeding my almost 11 month old baby her bottle and so I smelled my shirt to see if it smelled like formula. It had no odor. I had been done feeding my baby for several minutes and was just holding her while she slept. She was not drooling in anyway either.  So I liffted my shirt and gently squeezed my nipple.  Clear liquid came out very easily each time I would squeeze my nipple.  I tried squeezing my right nipple but nothing happened (no liquid or anything came out).  I stopped breastfeeding my daughter when she was 3 1/2 months old (back in mid-July 2010) and dried up quickly and have not had any leakage since that I have noticed. The other strange symptom I have had though is that I never have regained having a period after stopping breastfeeding after having my baby.  I successfully breastfed my first child for 20 months which also went into 7 months of my pregnancy with my 2nd child which is the baby I only breastfed for 3 1/2 months...anyways I know this isn't a baby forum or anything but I'm concerned about the clear leakage from my left nipple.  I also have been very fatigued since Sept. off and on but sometimes so much I can barely funciton throughout the day.  I thought it was some kind of post partum depression so I went on Cymbalta but I'm still so very tired, exhausted, fatigue you name it...any help or insight would be appreciated!  (P.S. I took 1 weeks worth of Provera to try to get me to start my period back in November but it didn't work).

You need to have your prolactin levels checked. Also ask for a pituitary work up.  Sometimes after childbirth you can get a non-cancerous tumor on your pituitary glad that either secretes hormones (like prolactin) or pushes on the gland and supresses other hormones.  Be prepared to have to fight for these tests though.. from personal experience doctors don't like it when you tell them what you think is wrong.  You should also ask to see an Endocrinologist, but even they might not want to help if you are not "textbook", because most just want to treat "easy" diabetes patients.  Not trying to scare you, just telling you from personal experiance that its hard to find help these days unless you are a simple case. Hopefully you have a good doctor though.

With everything going on from the fatigue to the no periods, makes me advise you to see your doc. If you haven't been breastfeeding in 8 months, your period should have returned. Are you on birth control? Do you think there is anyway you can be pregnant. I was always unsuccessful getting my children to breastfeed, so I'm affraid I can't help you there. But for sure, make an appointment with your OB/GYN so that she can order some blood tests for you. You could possibly not be taking in enough iron, causing your tiredness.

Best of luck
