4 weeks after a medical abortion I am still bleeding
I had a medical abortion 4 weeks ago. I was 8 weeks pregnant when I had the abortion. I have been bleeding ever since. I went to the ER and an ultrasound showed retained pregnancy products in my cervix not my uterus. They sent me home and said I would pass it on my own. 5 days later I returned to the ER with similar symptoms as my trip before...bleeding and passing large clots. The ultrasound showed a blood clot in my uterus and active bleeding. They gave me methergine and sent me home on methergine taking it 3 times a day for 3 days. I am still bleeding (like a period) and passed a few clots. I'm wondering if this is my period or I am still actively bleeding from the abortion and need a D&C?
That's happened to me before but I did pass it but even tho I passed it the same day of my symptoms I bleed for like 2 2 1/2 weeks heavy bleeding and still blood clots and tissue

If you still have retained products of conception, and they don't come out on this round of methergine, then you might need a D&C to get them out. Is this the third day on methergine or is it done?
