Abnormal Pap Test--HELP!!!

I had an abnormal pap result recently. My GYN called me saying she found some precancerous cells. She wanted to do some further testing to decide what is really going on.

I am nervous because of my family history. I did find a lump on my upper vulva a few weeks ago. It disappeared a few days after it showed up.

What's the chance of me developing cancer???

I was in the same boat too .I had an abnormal pap come back and it scared the life right out of me . The doctor (not very prefessional) called me at work and said "theres something wrong with you, You have the HPV Virus and it could be cancer" Not exactly the phone call I wanted to hear at work. But I felt this was not right and got a second opinion and turned out I had low grade "changing" cells and I would have to wait 6 months and have another test done. So I did and the next one came back completely NORMAL!! The first doctor did not know what he was talking about. Im sure your fine girl !

I just had an abnormal pap test myself......I had the colposcopy (which was very simple) and the doctor said everything looked fine....although the biopsy came back the same as the pap.....low grade abnormal cells.....so I have to have another pap test done in 4 months......I do feel better after talking to so many people and finding out just how common and treatable this condition is.....just about every female I talk to has either had an abnormal pap or knows of somebody who has.....

Almost everyone will have an abnormal pap smear at least once in their lifetime.  Relax, I'm sure it will be okay.  They will scrape the cells and most likely, nothing more will come of it.

Girl take a deep breath.  Chances are you are fine.

I had a pap once turn up like that when I was 18.  I was freaked out.  They went in and removed some cells just inside on my cervix.

Turned out they werent pre-cancerous afterall.

No more abnormal paps since and I'm 28 with a 6 month old son.

Hang in there and I'm sure you'll be okay.  Staying positive and hopeful is the best thing for you right now :)
