Adverse Reaction to Vaginal MetroGel

by 4CarolW, Jan 10, 2007 12:00AM
Went to OBGYN in Nov.for my Pap.  He said I had yeast.  I didn't even know. I have had them in the past and you typically know. The next week I started having some itching & burning. I had some Terazole 3 that was prescribed a couple of months back that I hadn't used.  I use this for 3 nights & it seemed to get some better.  Next week it comes back so I used Monistat 1.  Didn't help.  I called OBGYN looking for relief, but he had been out of the office & all I could do is talk to nurses & they would ask other doctors in the office. They prescribed Gynazole 1.  It wasn't working & it didn't seem like a yeast infection.  I continued to call since I couldn't get in.  They then tell me to use Lotramin & A & D ointment.  I did this for a week.  I didn't seem as irritated because by this time after 3 weeks of all of this medicine I just really seemed irritated and itching. It was all external itching.  I finally got in to see my OBGYN on Monday & he said I had bacteria.  He prescribed vaginal Metrogel for 5 days.  I have used it for 2 & I have cramps, back pain & bloating.  Started looking on internet for side effects & sure enough these are side effects.  The only thing that scared me is the internet said that they were serious side effect & that you need to contact your doctor immediately.  I called & he didn't think it was from the medicine.  Said not to use it tonight & see if it gets better.  How long will it take for this gel to get out of my system.  Should I be worried if it is a serious side effect and how will I get rid of the bacteria.  I am allergic to ALOT of medicin

I was just wondering if you have had any change in the milky discharge since using Metrogel? I have had a milky discharge, was to BV and perscribe Metrogel for 5 days also.  From the first day of use I had no more discharge of anykind, feeling bloated,  slight abdominal pain and lower back pain also...  wondering if you have had any kind of thick gel like "stuff" instead of a discharge following use of Metrogel?
