Check out dietary things also, like oatmeal and applesauce and all of those.  The "People's Pharmacy" is a good resource.

One other question, Some people are born with cholesterol levels elevated and are gentically predispostitioned for high cholestrol.  There is a subgroup, however, that can control it through diet and weight.  Are you including these things into your program of reducing cholesterol?  Essential that you do.  good luck

Hi there and welcome.  These are good questions to discuss with your prescribing doctor.  There are several in the class of cholesterol lowering medications that lipitor is in and there are a couple of adjust therapies that maybe would help as well.  Your doctor will be the best to help guide you.  Is it your LDL cholesterol that you are trying to lower?

If you are having muscle pain, I would also mention this to your doctor as you do not want to continue a cholesterol lowering drug that is causing this.

But again, there are several alternatives to Lipitor in the same class.  good luck
