Am I pregnant?

by emeraldmoons1, Jun 22, 2007 12:00AM
I had unprotected sex about 3 months ago, I was very paranoid about it soo I went and took the morning after pill.... only it was about 3 days after the fact... I started my period a little over a week after that (when it was expected) it was a very heavy period and lasted for about 6 days. I was very relieved and the thought that I could be pregnant wasn't even in my mind anymore.  When it came time for my next period it was very very light and only lasted 2 or 3 days (which is not normal for me). So I got worried but just brushed it off and figured it had something to do with the morning after pill. Well it is time for my next period this week and it hasn't happened.  I have irregular periods but due to my very light period my last cycle, I'm worried. I have also been experiencing a lot of breast pain, almost a burning in my nipples.  I have none of the other pregnancy symptoms though.  No fatigue, I'm not nautious, and I have probably lost about 10 lbs in the last 3 months rather than gaining any weight.  I am very very worried, I have never been pregnant before but I would think that you would be having a lot of syptoms (symptoms) by your 3rd month of being pregnant.  I don't know if the morning after pill has any long term effects or what this could be.  Could I be pregnant?

have you considered taking a test? really that is the only way you will know.  go to a clinic if you dont want to take a test at home and see what it says.

You have to take a test to be sure.
The emergency contraceptive you used is a powerful drug, and yes, it can interfere w/your normal cycle.  Again, you'll have to test to be sure.

The emergency contraception can mess with you. It gave me a hell of a scare about 6 months ago. Take the test. And if your not pregnant think about the pill - here is a link with some useful information about it: remember  that the morning after pill can have a lot of side effects, you may be experiamcing those. Best to talk to your doctor. - Kate from the womens health desk at
