Another question (sorry)

by toocuteqt, Jun 12, 2006 12:00AM
I am about 10 days late, all negative pregnancy tests so I finally went to the doctor today. Of course the pee test came out negative, and she did an exam and said that more then likely I am not pregnant, and I told her that we were trying. She said for me to wait 2 weeks, if I still have no period take another pee test if thats negative she gave me a perscription for Provera to start my period.

Has anyone elses doctors did this for them? I dont know if I want to take something to start my period, because if we are still trying for a baby, is that safe? The more my hubby and I talked about it this afternoon the more nervous I got.

Anyone ever in this situation?

Thanks a lot (sorry for all the questions the past few days but my husband and I dont want to ask family because we want our pregnancy...whenever it happens....a surprise!)

Thanks,
Nikki

There are a lot of women on here (medhelp) both on the Women's Forum and on the Maternal Child forum who have used provera in an effort to jumpstart their cycles and many who have gone on to get pregnant. I think it sounds like a good idea, as the previous poster mentioned, you need to get those cycles functioning to TTC.

Good luck!

Im sure it will happen for you!..I wasnt on provera but i was on clomid to get things going. After a certain length of time i stopped taking it and things JUST happened! I was pregnant!  I do believe it was more that i actually stopped stressing about it and let things happen! Good luck!

Thank you. That is exactly what we were doing...just letting things happen, then it turns out we were late this month and really got our hopes up. I am going to wait 2 weeks to see if my period comes naturally, then if it doesnt she said to get the Provera filled. We dont care if we get pregnant next month for 6 months from now, whenever it happens for us will be our time, we just really got our hopes up...hehe...!!

Thanks everyone, ya'll are the bestest!

I was on provera in Dec 05 and Jan 06 and I now am almost 20 weeks pregnant.  I did not take clomid though.  I had not had a AF since almost Aug 05.  Provera will not hurt you if you are pregnant, you just wont have a period after you stop taking the meds.  But you can not get pregnant if you are not ovulating.  Provera is a great drug that jumpstarts your period.  Im glad I took it and didnt wait around for my next Af, it might of never showed up on its own. If you have any more questions just ask me! Best of Luck!

I have used provera 3 times to jump-start af. Every time I got af 3-4 days after I took my last pill. I then had to be on clomid because I wouldn't ovulate on my own and that is why I wouldn't get af on my own. I had to do 3 cycles of clomid but now I am 10 weeks, 4 days pregnant.

Take Care
