Any ideas to get labor going?? Besides Castor Oil or Sex???? Ha ha ha!

I am due next week.. have been having a lot of pain in my hip/back - not due to weight, I only gained 15 lbs.. BUT.. I am not dialating at all! (I didn't with my other two kids either and had to be induced!) This is a new Dr., new hospital, etc. and they won't induce me and I want to get this show on the road. They said if I went to term, he'd be 9 or 10 lbs.. I would like to do it now so he won't be so giant! (my other two were biggies... ) Any SAFE suggestions that don't include sex or drinking castor oil?? Thanks! :) Jen

I drank alot of raspberry tea with rose hips the agents in both herbals helped to bring on contractions also beneficiary in helping with preiods as well for after the baby as well in speeding up the process , however , I am not a doctor just a mother so I seriously reccomend waiting it out if you can or walk alot and take whatever other advice from this site you feel comfortable with. Good Luck.

One of the reasons sex brings on labor, is because of the contracting of the uterus when orgasming....

Do you see where I'm going with this?  Manually stimulating yourself to climax, might do the trick.

There are also certain pressure points in the bottom of your foot that when stimulated can cause labor. Good excuse to get a great pedicure!!

Nipple stimulation is very effective.  It causes the release of oxytocin, a natural type of pitocin.  It worked for me whe I was two weeks late.

My 9 lb'r was easier than my 8.5 lb'r... so maybe there is something to that! I just don't want stiches again.. I'd love to have a 7 lb'r - still healthy.. just not as big!

Nipple stimulation works very well! I also used to go to walmart and walk around as long as I could. It seemed to help. I know you said no sex but orgasm causes your uterus to contract. It may be weird to do when you are that pregnant but you can always, well, please yourself. Good luck!

Maybe belly dancing.  It got my sister going... she belly danced then with the labor. Hee! Hee! Wish you lots of luck and don't worry my sister in law had a 10lber and her labour was 10 mins and easy. Oops!

OOH, I forgot another trick. Take a drive and go up in elevation if you can. The pressure from the elevation change might make you go into labor!!! MAKE SURE SOMEONE ELSE IS DRIVING!!!!

I am not recomending this by any means but, my mom was about 2 or 3 weeks late with me...they didnt induce then either apparently....and she had my uncle driver her over railroad tracts. Wouldnt you know she went into labor that night. Now, I dont know if it was the tracts, or the fact that she was already so late with me...but hey, it worked.

Prune juice, german chocolate cake, long walks, rose hip tea, yoga, and laughter! But all in all, nature will take its course when it is time! I had to be induced with my son as well, I am hoping that this one comes naturally. It would be a great feeling to feel my water break!!

Good luck to you!!
