Anybody experience black discharge accompanied by heavy bleeding????

Hi ladies...You might be familiar with some of my previous posts.
I missed my last period by 6 days...took an hpt...negative.
I had a few spots....just a spot on my uw..no spotting no flow...this happened a few times over the course of a few days.
Then nothing....just some discomfort...pain in lower left pelvic area for a few days ....then dark brown/black discharge w/clots.
Now for the last few days...really heavy period enough to soak a tampon and pantyliner every hour or so.
Went to the dr.
She said I might've miscarried...sent me for a quantative blood test.
She said that the black was probably me bleeding internally and it was stored there for a few days....now it has all expelled and i'm geting rid of everything else.
She said she will check my levels again in 4-5 days to see how they've changed if in fact i was pregnant.
If I wasn't....what was this???.....Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Thanx, Jack

I have had the same dark black/brown discharge but once that stopped nothing else happened, no period, nothing. I am still having a lot of pain as if I am on my period but there is no sign of blood. Has anyone had just that?

I was wondering about that and whether or not the clot is what kept the blood from coming down, like a tub stopper.  Then when it moved/passed the other blood came down.

Had that happen last cycle. Had preg symptoms and AF came two days early (lightly), stopped completely after a day and then all of a sudden I got a sudden cramp for about 30 seconds and then a VERY dark brick red/black discharge with one clot that sent me to the ladies room.  I just continued to spot the next 2 days.  I got all BFN's so I don't know what that was.

Maybe it was just my experience, but when I had a miscarriage, I had no dark blood. It was all bright red and fresh (with some clotting). But no dark blood at all.

I think you can put your mind at ease - it sounds like your period was just late and it's dark because it took awhile to come out. The only time I've had dark bleeding is when my period was a couple of days late for no reason or usually at the tail-end of my period.

You know - I am not a doctor but I kind of think that happens - clots act like a plug. I mean, I have had what jacksynn and you describe over the years and I sure as heck wasn't pregnant that many times. I think there can be a blockage of some sort and the blood is just prevented from coming out and then you get a big WHOOSH from the buildup, generally preceded by a big nasty clot :O)

Ah nice lunchtime conversation...

I'm glad you agree, I thought you would laugh at my tub stopper theory LOL.  But I believe it, especially to stop so suddenly as I did.

Hi girls...thanx for all your comments.
Dr. called this morning....
Thank goodness....levels are normal...
I guess maybe it was just another whacky period.
Still bleeding heavily with a bit of discomfort...but it eases my mind to know..things are fine.
Thanx for all being there!!!!
