Over the past 10 years I have had 5 surgeries. The firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc was to clean up adhesions, second to remove fallopian tubes and right (grapefruit size cyst) ovary, the third to remove the another grapefruit size cyst from the left ovary/adhesions and 12 inches of bowel. The fourth was to remove the left ovary that regrew along with a cyst and my unterus. Last year I had a clean up of adhesions. During all this time I start suffering from pain not long after the surgery. Usually it starts about three months after and gradually gets worse. After my last surgery I did not get any relief. For the last nine months I have been in Pain Management with minimal relief.
I feel like I no longer have a life and if it were not for my daughter (via IVF) I would have done my self in long ago. I am desperate for a cure or a direction to go in. If you know of anything please answer my post.
I have had 10 abdominal surgeries including 3 C sections, appendectomyAppendectomy Appendectomy - series, and a hysterectomyHysterectomy Hysterectomy - series. My doctor left one ovary when I had my hysterectomyHysterectomy Hysterectomy - series and I had to have the ovary removed a couple of years later. It had a huge cyst on it. I have also had 3 surgeries to remove adhesions--I have chronic left side pelvic pain that is only explained as adhesions. My ovary began to regrow too complete with a cyst and was removed in my last adhesion surgery in Dec. 2007. The pelvic pain began before my hysterectomy and was the main reason for the surgery. The doctor found a cyst on my left ovary and endometriosis and scar tissue from my c-sections. He removed the cyst and thought that all would be fine. Every time I have surgery, the doctor finds something that he is sure is the cause of my pain but the pain never goes away.
I am currently seeing a PT who specializes in breaking up adhesions. The sessions are pretty bad but I have had some relief. Unfortunately, not enough. I am a music teacher and I teach PK through 8th grade during the school year and high school kids during the summer. This pain has really held me back and it is so frustrating because I can not get any answers and very little relief. I have tried to ignore the pain thinking that it must all be in my head. I have hydrocodone for the pain but I only take 1/2 a pill per day and the mg for the entire pill is only 7.5mg. Needless to say it helps but does not last very long. My doctor is relunctant to give me pain medicine so I hoard what I can get for as long as possible.
I understand your comment about no longer having a life. I feel the same way. I wish that I knew of something to help you. I will be seeing a specialist in Houston Texas soon and hopefully finally get some answers. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I feel pretty alone and it was a relief to me to read your message.
Thanks for sharing. It is amazing how people (like us) can be in severe chronic pain and have no life because the drs are strict with pain pills, yet, if you feel a little blue or anxious, or your cholesterol is just a tad high they waste no time in getting out that prescription pad! I am sorry there are people who abuse narcotics, but don't punish the rest of us with Aleeve or Motrin!
I had a hysterectomy in Jan 2008 and still have such incredible left side abdominal pain, that has never been explained. It was my reason for having such a radical surge4ry at the age of only 26. This chronic pain and loss of life has to lead some type of depression. I feel like everyone thinks it's in my head and I just need to deal with the pain and not get meds to help. It's discouraging and depressing to miss out on so much of life. To not even go to the movies with my 2 small children because it hurts to sit for 2 hours! How can they not figure out the cause of our pain? And if they can't find the source at least let us be comfortable. I hope you have found solutions and are feeling better...let me know if anything has helped...plz...
Has anyone heard of my type of pain and now being 8 months out from surgery having cramps and vaginal bleeding after intercourse?
(fyi...hysterectomy included everything removed ....tubes, cervix, uterus, and 1 ovary)
I feel your pain. I had my hysterctomy in Jan. 09 for pelivc pain and heavy periods. I still have lower abdomial (abdominal) pain, and left hip pain. I am very depressed and feel so lost. Im to see a specialist in a few days to get a pain block. This is my lost hope.
I had a TAH inJan.2009 and have suffered horrendous abdominal pain since. Had laproscopy sept 2009 to remove adhesions. Digestion good but pain still horrible. Just started PT and acupuncture. Hoping to break up hard scar tissue. Am still on narcotics and has changed my whole life. Pain is on left side also and I can now pinpoint exactly where.Had nerve block but no success. It is not nerve but muscle and scar tissue. Took them ten months to figure it out. Just hope it can be fixed with PT and acupuncture. Also had saliva hormone test and am waiting results so we can also balance my hormones. So depressed, drag to work, no fun anymore, Always was very active. I totally get it.
