Anyone else use Seasonique (Birth Control)?

I just started using Seasonique (used to be called Seasonal) Dec 19,2006 and I'm hoping there will be some ladies on here that can provide me with some feed back. I was hoping I would be able to read the insert that was supposed to come with the filled prescription, but the pharmacy didn't include it in the bag. Anywho, can anyone tell me if they had swollen, sore breast and sore nipples when they first started taking this type of bc? My stomach is also a little tender to the touch. I'm just wanting to see if anyone else experienced these side effects when first starting this type of bc. I used to use the Nuva Ring prior to the switch. Also, for those of you who have been using this type of bc for awhile, how do you like it? I'm still trying to get used to taking a pill daily, I've only had to double up twice so far. Thanks in advance for your feed back.

I have only been on loseasonique for 2 weeks but everything has been fine. i have had a little spotting and light cramps but i'm sure that because i started the pill right before my normal period. The spotting is getting lighter and the cramps are gone. My sister has been on seasonique for a year and has never had any problems with it. Of course, we are both 19 and the side effects are less likely the younger you are. That is true with most medications. I have been on orthotricyclenlo and i gained weight like crazy. So far i have not had any weight gain from the pill. my weight gain has been from me not exercising as much as i was due to school and studying.

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to have found a forum that has recent posts about this stuff. I am on week 3 of my first pack of seasonique and for 2 days have had really bad cramps and lower back pain! I woke up in the middle of the night last night from the cramping and it has been consistent for 2 days!

I'm confused because there's no bleeding yet..just cramping. I'm trying to talk myself out of thinking I have some horrible infection or STD and that it really is just this stupid pill. It's ironic because ive been on birth control forever and have never really had bad side effects until now after barely 3 weeks of seasonique. It's totally a bummer...however I really hope the cramping and back aches are from the pill rather than from some other health problem! any thoughts? Thanks everyone for posting your experiences! its comforting to at least know that im not alone!

I am also on seasonique and have experienced similar side effects.  The first being I have gained 12 pounds in 3 weeks.  I have also gotten terrible acne.  I am so embarressed to see people, and can barely look them in the eye.  I am moody, irritable and have no sex drive.  I am basically falling apart.  I have also had severe cramping in my feet and legs.  It is terrible.  I am afraid to stop it in the middle of the pack.  Any advice?

I have been on seasonique lo for a full pack.  The only problem I am having is the weight/water gain.  It is painful in my abdomen area from the pressure of bloating.  Other than that I like it.  But I was wondering does the bloating and slight weight gain eventually subside once your body gets us to it????  I don;t want to switch but I also do not want to gain weight and be bloated either.

Hi again.  I posted a comment in January stating how heavy and painful my breasts had become and about the weight gain while I was on Seasonique.  Obviously, this is nothing compared to other stories.  I honestly don't know how this product is still on the market!  Are there any health professionals that even read these posts?

I abruptly stopped taking Seasonique in January.  I immediately got a yeast infection as a 'thank you for using Seasonique'.  It took about a month, but  I lost the weight and my bras now fit like they did before.  I am normal in every way again.

I don't care how often I get my periods, quitting Seasonique was the BEST thing I could have ever done.

If you're thinking of taking Seasonique, read this forum in it's entirety first.

Seasonique has been a blessing for me! Sure you get the usual side effects such as weight gain, anxiety, etc. but there are side effects to everything. I used Yaz for a month and had yeast infection for that entire month. Seasonique's side effects will get better over time. And I mean give it at least 6 months. I had spotting in the beginning but I'd rather have spotting instead of period every month. Everyone reacts to it differently so be patient. I haven't had any extreme side effects that required medical attention. So if you do, make sure you call your doc right away. I've been on Seasonique for 2 yrs now and it's worth every penny. Whoever created this deserves an award!
