Anyone ever had a Kidney infection PLEASE READ THIS!!! Help!!! I am really scared!!

I recently was hospitalized for a nasty Kidney infection.  I have been out and on antibiotics for about a week and a half.  My question is can you have kidney pain this much after recovery??  I feel like the pain is coming back.  It is nothing like how bad it was the first time, but I definitely have some pain again in the same spot.  The doctors think a UTI caused my infection in the first place, but I have no symptoms of a UTI now.  I had some itching a few days ago, but that is gone now.  I thought i may have gotten a yeast infection on top of all this.  I really want to know if I should be worried about this pain again.  Last time the pain started slow but it got to the point where I was in so much pain in the hospital that morphine wasn't strong enough to stop the pain!!  it was awful!  if anyone can help or give me any information i would greatly appreciate it!!  thanks!!!

After what I have been through, and still am going through....i say go to the ER if you are having a lot of pain!  If the pain is dull than get to a urologist ASAP.  Kidney infections left untreated only get worse.  They can cause other problems as well.  My pain has come back, so now my doctor is sending me for another CT scan monday.  unfortunately i have to wait that long.  my pain is getting worse, but not as bad as it was.  doc thinks i may have a blockage in my kidney cause my infection was so bad.  Also, keep in mind that the strip test of your urine can come back negative even if you do have a kidney infection.  Two of my doctors told me this.  What antibiotic are you on?  At the beginning of my problems, my doc gave me an antibiotic, but it was the wrong one for my type of infection.  there was no way of knowing which type of infection it was until the culture came back.  so, all in all i would say get yourself checked out by as many doctors as possible.  definitely a urologist, and if the pain is bad...go to the ER.  A kidney infection is a common thing and UTI's.  That is why doctors may be relaxed about it.  but it can be very serious as i have learned.  Hope this helps.

I am in the same situation as yourself, have had a UTI and recovered well( at least that's what I thought).  After sex it came back with a vengeance and affected my kidneys. Had a urine and blood test which revealed nothing specific, still pains in my loin, nausea and fatigue.  It seems that the doctors wanted to send me home asap with antibiotics full stop.

2 weeks after start feel really fatigued and still with occasional pain in my loin.  Doctor advised another blood/urine test after efffect of antibiotics could be gone (10 days).

My question is: should I wait for that long?  or see a urologist straight away.  The national health service doctor seems to be very relaxed about it.

Hi, thanks for your response!!  I went to my doctor today and feel much better after seeing him!!  He told me its normal to have pain for a month or so after this kind of infection.  The pain is not severe, so it is ok.  If it gets bad again, than i should worry.  It has been minor, so i am somewhat relieved.

I was on IV antibiotics in the hospital, and they sent home with the antibiotic Keflex.  I am still taking it.  Now the Keflex has caused some GI issues, which I got new medicine for today.  He put me on Metronidazole and a Probiotic.  These are making me a bit nauseated, but my doctor said that might happen.  My doc is going to test my urine when i am done with the antibiotics and take a stool sample just to make sure the infection is gone.  i am also going to see a urologist next week.

This whole thing is just so scary to me.  I have never had anything like this.  Never had a UTI, yeast infection, etc....  I feel better, but still scared.  Plus, I have anxiety disorder, so its worse for me.  Thanks!!
