Are brown periods normal?

I have had my period for 3 days so far, but my period seems to be coming out brown. Can someone please tell me why, or if it's normal.

Background information: I'm 14 and I started my period last year October.

Thank You

Periods can come in more than just the standard red, a darker brown just means the blood is older and has been sitting in you for longer, if its a lighter brown itll just be the same stuff but mixed with discharge
