B STREP during pregnancy

by wdny, Feb 28, 2009 09:10PM
I had UTI and my obgyn prescribed to take penicillin when I was six and a half month pregnant. Now I'm 35 weeks and I also tested positive for B strep. My doctor told me that I need to take penicillin again, but he also told me that I will deliver the baby with IV (antibiotic). I'm afraid that taking the penicillin now can lead to resistance of bacteria to this Antibiotic. I would like to ask for professional advice in order to deliver healthy baby. All help and suggestion very much appreciated.
