BAD ingrown pubic hair

I have had a long standing problem with ingrown hairs in my pubic area as I trim my pubic hair once a week....but never one this bad...they usually only last a week, come to a head, drain and are fine. This one has been here for a little over a month and will not go away. It has come to a head several times and when it does...it leaves a gaping hole. I am afraid it has become an abcess (abscess)..It is VERY tender as it is right in the crease of my leg and vaginal area. What can I do to get it to go away?
