BC pills for endometriosis

by deb11, Jun 14, 2008 07:27PM
I just returned from a gyno. appt. where my dr. gave me some samples of Yaz.  I am reading terrible things about this type of BC and I am definately considering not taking it.  I am just 3 months away from turning 50 so menopause is not far away.  I resently had 2 gyno. surgeries.  The first one was an endometrical ablation and the other one was a laproscopy where my dr. removed endometrical implants.  So, because of the ablation I do not bleed or cramp at all during the month.....that part is great!  However, since my endometriosis was a stage 2 and still gives me pain in the ligaments of my left leg, she said that I should take BC pills until menopause occurs to manage the endodetriosis and to manage my emotions as well.  Is this something I definately need to do?  Because of my age I am concerned about the possible risks involved because I have had a biopsy in my right breast 2 times (non-cancer).  Do the risks of taking low dose BC pills out weigh the advantages at my age and is the endometrosis better managed just with pain medications since it will subside at menopause?  (I have chosen not to have the depot-lupron shots for the endometrosis)  The Yaz brand is of great concern for me since I have had panic attacks in the past.  I am reading a lot about people having anxiety, panic, depression, and a great deal of side effects that I just am not willing to go through.  I teach 6 year old children and in the classroom is not the place for me to be sick and having side effects.  I have already taken a year off of work to have my surgeries and I am just now feeling so much better.
