Bad menstrual blood smell

Hi there, I've just started my period yesterday and I'm embarrassed to say this but it smells so bad. My previous periods also kind of smelled but very subtle. This time though, the smell is so bad and intense that I feel like it can seep through my clothes. I don't know how to describe it but it's not a rotten flesh smell or something. It smells knid of metallic and sour.
I've searched the questions and read something about old tampon left inside. But I only use pads, have never touched a tampon. I'm also a virgin and have never had anything inside me, so I don't think it comes from stuffs stuck inside.
I also keep good hygiene, change pads every 4-6 hours and wash the area with pH care everyday. It feels clean then but jist after a few hours the smell comes back.
Can anyone suggest a possible cause of the smell? I'm so embarrassed because I live in a dorm room with two other girls and after I finish using the bathroom I still feel that the bbathroom stinks with that ewww smell and then someone else use the bathroom after me...

Go to the doctor and get swabbed for BV.  Its hallmark is a bad smell associated with the period.  If you have it, a) it can only be cured by antibiotics, don't waste your time with home remedies, and b) don't ignore it, you don't want to get pelvic inflammatory disease.  Don't worry, it isn't a sexually transmitted disease, it's an infection.  Go see the doc.
