Biopsy scar has left me itching

I had a biopsy for a mole on my upper chest area just below by neck.  The biopsy was about 4 years ago and the scar left itches badly at times.  Is this normal and what can I do to stop the itching.  I have been using regular lotion that seems to calm it a bit.

i have 2 keloids on my back from the removal of moles. my doctor prescribed rizaben (also known as tranilast) 3 times a day, as well as a cream called hirudoid. i just wanted to make sure that rizaben won't cause any problems for me, because i'm also taking oral contraceptives, and i want to make sure that the 2 drugs won't interfere with eachother. what do you think?

i would call the dermatologist and tell them that you are having alot of irritation at the acar site and would like them to take a look.

hope you feel better soon :)

Thank you so much!  The scar is raised and yes I received a clean bill of health back.

if it is raised it may be a keloid. if so your dermatologist can inject a steroid solution(ie Kenalog) into the scar itself to flatten it and make the irritation fade.

if it is already flat and itches you can try using an over the counter hydrocortisone cream two or three times a day. sometimes the itch is just a part of healing.

did you get a clear biopsy report back from the mole?
