Birth Control Help Please?

I'm currently sexually active and have been using condoms, however, I've recently just bought birth control pills. My doctor said to wait ten days after sex to start taking the pill again but I really want to start because I know that if I take the pill I won't want to have sex with my boyfriend until the pill kicks in. Can I start taking the pill now or should I really wait the ten days?

If your doctor said to wait ten days after sex, there must be a reason for it, though I'm not quite sure what it might be.  Perhaps the type she's put you on requires a certain time frame?  I don't see how it could require a ten-day wait unless she's timing it with your current cycle to try to not change things up for your body.  Just remember to still use a condom for that first month you are on the pill and to take the pill at the same time every day to make sure it's as effective as possible.
