Birth Control and Weight Gain

I am hoping that someone can relate to this and share their opinion.
I was on Yasmin birth control for about a year, but asked to switch to another type because I was experiencing a decreased sex drive, etc. Otherwise, I felt fine on it...my skin was nice, my mood was ok, no real weight gain. I started to take LoEstrin 24 alittle over a year ago. I immediately gained weight...about 5 pounds in the first week, and have since gained a total of 12. I started meds for a hypothyroid almost three months ago, but have not lost weight despite being very active (walking, going to the gym and some pilates) and eating ok. I am still on LoEstrin and am wondering if the weight is NOT dropping because of the hormones from the birth control. I don't have any other negative side effects from this pill.
Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

12 lbs? thats not really a big enough swing to suspect anything but a slower metabolism. my obgyn switched me three times in a year from yasmin to orthotricyclin to yaz and i have gained about 35 lbs whiled watching my diet and running and excersizing consistantly.
