Birth Control and Weight Loss supplements

I was just curious as to whether or not weight loss herbal supplements can have an effect on your birth control pills?  I am taking a generic brand of Orthotrycyclin and am considering taking NXcare NV weight loss supplement for women.  I'm assuming that if it did have any contradictions with birth control that they would lable this somehow, but I just want to make 110% sure because i'd rather gain a few pounds than have a baby at this stage in my life.  Can anyone answer me positivily?  Thank you!

I agree, double and triple check. Back when weightloss supplements had higher doses of ephedra, my SIL was taking Metabolife along with her BCPs and got pg. Not sure if they are related, but if you are taking something that increases your metabolism dramatically, it could in theory cause you to metabollize meds faster.

The best I can tell you to do is call your local drugstore and ask to speak with the pharmacist.  While they all do not know a lot about herbal drugs....even if they are not familiar with those products if you tell them the active ingredients in them ( have the bottle handy or if you haven't purchased them yet look it up online) they should be able to tell you.  If I'm ever in doubt I call Walgreens and they always look everything up for me!
