Birth Control question--I need to skip my next period--Help!

I forgot to start taking a new pack of birth control this month on the first day of my period. I'm going on vacation at the end of this month, and I start my period on the 30th of every month. I'm leaving on the 29th and dont want to have my period while I'm away. Is there any way I can start taking the pill now, in the middle of the month, and then start a new pack or continue taking the new one in order to miss my upcoming period? I'm not worried about pregnancy, I'll be using a back-up method, I just don't want to get my period. Thanks.

Skipping the placebos and starting a new pack will push your cycle back about a week or more. What it does to your cycle in regard to
your regular schedule I have no idea. It worked for me for a trip. However, a couple months later I bled for 2 weeks non-stop. At that point the gyno told me to stop for about 3 days and re-start. Which I did. I ended up stopping again after a couple more months because I was more unhappy with the weight gain. However, I have a special trip planned again so I started them a couple weeks ago and will ignore the placebos this month as well. I put off starting them too soon because of the weight gain as well.

im getting married in june 2009. i want to start taking ortho tricyclen lo ahead of time to regulate my period. i used to be on it and it got my periods regulated down to the day every month. otherwise im going to have it on the first day of my honeymoon. i was thinking about starting the pills 2 or 3 mo. ahead of time and then skipping my period for my wedding. if this works then do you bloat really badly since your skipping  your period because that would be bad and my wedding dress wouldnt fit. would it be okay if i started taking them in april? please help!

I am getting married on dec 31st & have realized that if I don't do something quick my period should begin on that exact day.  I do not want to be on my period for my wedding night and honeymoon!  Can I start a pack today (dec 19th) and it will push my period back until later?

when you took two packs in a row, the next month when you began taking them one pack at a time, were your hormones all screwed up? i got married last month and did the whole two pack thing, but needless to say it didn't help because i spotted the whole month, including the honeymoon, but this next pack (after a sucessful period) i'm  more bloated and cranky than normal and my breasts are swollen. i think its probably my body re-adjusting, but its not fun. did you do this?

I remembered to start the new pack like 4 days later....by that time i figured it was too late to start...i wasnt that concerned about getting pregnant because i wasnt having sex at the time (boyfriend was out of state)...the back up method is condoms...thanks for your help, im going to start taking a new pack today, and hopefully it will make my next period, at best, 3 or 4 days late.

my doctor told me that taking the pill without having a period is fine and it won't hurt you at all....HTH

If you are absolutely sure you aren't pregnant now, you can start today.  This way you should be in the middle of your pill pack on the 30th.

You might have spotting or other menstrual irregularities through out the next month or two, though.  You might either have a delayed period or the other extreme-a very heavy period.

And you MUST be 100% sure you aren't pregnant right now.

You say you haven't been on the pill in 2 weeks because you forgot to start the pack?  Why didn't you just start a day or two later? What "back up" method have you been using?

It's not healthy to "manipulate" your cycle, but you my Dr. advised me to do this over my honeymoon.  He told me that instead of taking the placebo pills the last week, just continue on to a new pack.  Again, I caution that you don't want to do this often.  Just call you GYN and they will tell you what to do.  This was one-time occurance, and I'm sure your Dr. will help with your specific issue.
