I have been on birth control (Alesse) for around 4 years and am PETRIFIED of getting pregnant. in the last 10 months I have had 4 episodes of breakthrough bleeding on Alesse. I started breakthrough bleeding several days before when my period usually starts and the bleeding stopped a couple of days before my period usually starts. My period is about 2 days late and I am freaking out.
Is it possible that the breakthrough period is causing my period to be late or nonexistent? I have taken my birth control at the same time each day this month. I have never missed a period on birth control, although I have had breakthrough bleeding (though usually not this close to my shceduled withdrawal bleeding).
I can relate to you a lot on that. I had breakthrough bleeding 2 weeks after my last period ended and now I'm freaking out because I don't know if I'm going to get my period or not. They say breakthrough bleeding can be a sign of pregnancy, or so that's what some of the research I've gone through has said. It also can be a sign of the pills not being strong enough, or a hormonal imbalance, fibroids, etc. Have you gone to see a doctor yet?? If i were you, I'd take a pregnancy test just to be sure.
