Birth control lawsuit

Has anyone heard anything about the Ovral birthcontrol lawsuit?  I was taking Ovral birth control and have been having all these crazy things happening to my body since I have gone off of it?  It started with major migraines while I was on the pill.  We saw on tv the other night a number to call if you have taken Ovral birthcontrol and are having weird side effects but we didnt get the phone number.  Does anyone know anything about this?

We are attorneys who do toxic drug litigation. There is a lawsuit for the pfizer recall which may cause unwanted pregnancies because the drug packaging had placebo pills in place of active pills and which may be out of sequence. We also have clients who have suffered DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) or blood clots as a resut of taking this medicatio. However the worst drug for DVT or pulmonary  emboli is Yaz/Yasmin. If you have any questions you may contact us at 1-860-674-8000 Law Offices of Jazlowiecki  & Jazlowiecki

The patch does have some really bad side effects and the reason I'm saying this is because I started using it like two weeks ago and my body doesn't even feel like itself. I feel weak and my stomach hurts very badly. I felt so bad to the point that I had to remove the patch I still feel a bit week but I guess I have to wait a while in order for it to get fully out of my system. I'm not saying this to mean that it will affect everyone in this way but rather to share my experience with others.

While I understand that most drugs have side effects and they are not always publicized, Othro-Evra was directly marketed inaccurately.  Orth-Evra was marketed to my through publications and doctors as treatment for endometriosis.  High levels of estrogen actually make endometriosis WORSE!!!  Having spent several years on Ortho evra (I have since switched to Depo Provera), my endometriosis has indeed gotten worse.  I have always had long, heavy periods, but with Orth Evra, afetr some time the bleeding (not spotting, but actual heavy bleeding) would last 24 - 30 days.  I finally called my doctor in tears when the last period lasted 54 days and I was paler than a ghost and could barely sutup straight anymore.  All this in addition to unbearable pain.  While I know that this may not be as serious as strokes and blood clots, imagine how this has affected my life...  how happy would you be with a company that offered you something to help with the pain and bleeding and resulted in this?  I have never sued anyone and didn't even sue the doctor that removed my appendix when there was nothing wrong with it (actually caused by burst ovarian cysts) and didn't even think to see what was wrong when he was in there and saw my appendix was fine (this by the way caused more problems with the endo and scar tissue from the surgery).  I generally oppose many of the lawsuits out there as much of America is sue happy, but I think the makers of Ortho Evra really screwed this one up!

You can start a new thread and if the others are willing, contact each other outside of the forum. Also look thru archives if the thread is gone and you need to find out their names. I think that was what you were asking about. Hope so. If not and I misunderstood the question then let me know and I'll try again.. LOL

no one has ever said anything about the things that happened before the lady died just that she had a blood clot that wasn't there until she started taking the pill....and they are saying now that certain ones can cause blood clots and I have also heard that some have been taken off the shelves intil the company puts it in the warning...thats why I wont take my chances anymore I'd reather have a bunch of happy healthy children then go thru that..

Once a forum get full of comments.  What happens after that?  There was a question posted regarding pressure in the head and so many responded with the same exact symptoms.  They were helping each other and the site stopped the posting.  These people are going through exactly what I am.  How can you stay in contact with these people to see how things turned out for them?  They were posting after doctors appts to help each other out.  I was starting to feel sane.

Did your aunt happen to mention any side affects that the woman with the blood clot went through before she died?  Along with the usual things that I have been going through ( I stated them above) today I experienced some new things.  I have been experiencing this ringing in my left ear starting on Sunday and today I lost all hearing in my right ear for a minute.  When I couldnt hear the ringing came back but it the loudest it has ever been.  Plus there is this hard loud pulsating thing going on in the top right of my head off and on all day now.

I am so sorry to hear of the babies in your family.  I have a son that is 16 months old and I cant even imagine what those moms are going through.  I send much love and sympathy to them.

not starting an argument at all why would you think that because i didnt agree with what was said? IM saying your responsible for YOUR OWN choices...A drunk driver isnt YOUR CHOICE...its their choice(which is totally wrong) and if they drive drunk and hit a car ITS NOT BECAUSE you were in the car it was definetly the DRUNK persons fault. Two different scenarios cant be compared to some one popping a birth control pill. All pills have some side effects Okay this is what i mean if i take  30 tylenol thats my fault I will be sick i will have effects from it. IF you hold me down and make me take 30 tylenol its not my fault any more its yours!

Cory > wasn't trying to offend you are start an arguement, but I beleive that as life is risky, people have to be held accountable for their actions and mistakes, especially when it causes harm to others. If your child was killed by a drunk driver is it your fault for placing your child in the car? Should the drunk driver not have to suffer the consequences of his/her actions? Now in cases like spilling a cup of hot coffee on yourself and the suing McDonalds is rediculous, but in some cases, it is the only way to seek justice.

Lucy> If it is found that the drug company is responsible for your medical problems, then there is nothing wrong with seeking a judgement to help pay your medical expenses. I hope you are feeling better and I felt so bad reading what you have been through. I can only imagine how scarey that must have been.
The best of luck to you in getting better and getting the answers you need. Glad I could help.

Thanks so much Joanne for the info.  I will call and find out some information.  Corykis you are correct also but I do side with Joanne a bit more.  No one forces you to take any pills but we do rely on the professionals to guide us on what to take.  This is why they do the 10 years of schooling and we dont.  I am not going to sue anyone on this matter.  I just would like to talk to someone about what happened to me.  I went and had every test done in the world last month and there were no answers as to what was the matter with me.  All the tests came back neg and the doctor was puzzled.  Last month was pure hell for me.  I dont know if you have children but every night I would put my son to bed not knowing if it was going to be the last because the pain was so bad in my head and my heart was palpatating and racing for weeks. I would not wish what I went through on any woman.  Ive never cried so much in my life. I am a very healthy 27 year old this shouldnt have happened.  I just want other women to know about this type of pill so that they can be aware and maybe try taking something else or nothing at all. There are great meds out there but then there are things that are bad too and the companies cant fix anything if they are not aware that there is a problem.  Thanks again Joanne that was the number I was looking for.

I agree that frivolous lawsuits are on the rise. But as I state above, side affects go away after discontinuing use. And as you will see in the info I posted below, negligence and deception are in question. The deaths and serious health affects were avoidable.   I personally have nothing whatsoever to do with this lawsuit. I don't take any type of BC and haven't in the past 19 years, but my daughter does, and I can tell you that if she was one of the victims, I would be fighting for her. The original poster has the right to have her question answered if at all possible and I did. She has the right to seek monetary damages and it is up to a Judge to decide if she is intitled.  Below is info I copied/pasted from the website I posted earlier...

Ortho Evra Birth Control linked to Blood Clots, Strokes, Heart Attacks
Call 1-866-886-5529 toll free to have a lawyer contact you for a free case evaluation.

A consumer fraud class action lawsuit is currently being investigated against Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc., the manufacturer of the Ortho Evra birth control patch. The investigation concerns whether Ortho-McNeil has failed to disclose that the risks of adverse health events such as blood clots, stroke or heart attacks are greater for women using the patch than for women using birth control pills.

The Allegations Regarding this Potentially Fatal form of Birth Control
On Sunday July 17th, 2005 The Associated Press reported that they were aware of at least a dozen women, most in their late teens and twenties who passed away last year due to blood clots that are believed to be related to the use of the Ortho Evra Patch. Dozens more allegedly survived strokes and other clot related health issues according to 16,000 federal drug reports filed with the FDA and obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. In fact, API found 23 different fatalities associated with the patch, but the primary cause of death in each case was not always clear.

Heartbreaking Tragedies
It appears that these cases are incredibly tragedies for the families involved. In one case, a 25 year old woman had a stroke and was placed in the Intensive Care Unit, where her condition was so fragile that her family was unable to speak or touch her in any way because even the slightest amount of stimulation could create a fatal level of pressure on the brain.

Despite this, after days of horrible headaches that the coroner stated were brought on by the use of the hormones in Ortho-Evra, this beloved sister, daughter and wife passed away. They never got to touch their loved one or speak to her again after the stroke, a scenario that

Of course her question can be answered! I was stating my opinion and I believe no matter what choice we make in life whether it to consume a drug, walk across the street eat, drink have sex  there are side effects to EVERY DECISION we make!

1-866-886-5529 Is the number you call for a case evaluation, which I found at: https://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/ortho_evra?ref=ortho_evra_overture&OVRAW=Ovral%20birth%20control&OVKEY=birth%20control&OVMTC=advanced

Why on earth should one have to suffer physically and financially due to anothers mistakes? WE go to our doctors, they give us prscriptions, we trust them to keep us safe and they trust the testing that was done on these meds.. We fill the scripts and then months or years later, after going thru pain and suffering, we find out the meds given to us were NOT safe afterall, but they didn't know this until a certain amount of human guinea pigs report a multitude of symptoms that all share the same common thread. People have DIED from using certain medications that were given to them by qualified doctors. This is not a "Pay your nickel and take your chances" situation. These are not "side affects" when a medication causes a stroke, paralysis, and even death. A side affect is nausea, vomiting, tremors, sleeplessness etc.. Side affects go away after discontinuing use. And anyone trying to recupe their losses from faulty medications should not be portrayed as "Sue Happy" That just isn't fair.

im saying its a sue happy world..YES definetly if its malpractice like a doctor leaving in a scapel!..
BuT even though they help us! THEY ARE NOT GODS.
You can cross the street one day and be fine, the next be hit by a car somethings are just chances we take. Medication itself you can take it to relief one disease but it can cause another problem what are people to do??
ANY medication you put in your body may have a side effect!Just look at the  birth control..WE are stopping a natural process of the human body  what do we think may happen?

I did not see any on it that I paid attention to, but I will definitly keep my eye open for you. I personally due believe in going after pharm. companies when they put something on the market that have horable side effects, due to the fact that the steps that it takes to get FDA approved is very long and detailed so if it does come out with those types of side effects...1. They misdocumented the data of the research or 2. They lied about the outcome of the research. Good luck and I hope everything turns out O.K.
