Bleeding and on the Pill pls help

I have been on the pill for 4 months and on my fifth pack this month. I currently have 12 pills left before i finish this pack which leads me to my question. Every month has been normal and I get my period around the 4th day of my placebo week. This has always been the case. Today however, I had a bleed. And it wasn't a heavy or small bleed. It looked dark red and much like a menstrual bleed but I only had it in the morning upon going to the bathroom. Today, I also exercised which i typically don't do. I started exercising today early in the morning. It felt like any normal day. Then I went to the bathroom and peed and sat on the toilet and wiped and that's where i noticed the blood. What could be causing this? Could this be because of the exercise? Because so far, that's the only thing new today in my morning routine. and if so, then why? Please help! I will be going to a gynecologist later next week but still wanted know now reason. Could I either be pregnant? Is this a cause of worry? Let me know. Thank you!

It can happen any time as long as you're on the pill. It doesn't matter how long you've been on it. You can be on the same pill for years and years and get breakthrough bleeding any time regardless.

Just read the package directions that are enclosed in your pill because the side effects are listed and breakthrough bleeding is the one that all women on the pill get to experience sooner or later when they are on the pill.

Birth control pills have many side effects and one common side effect is bleeding between periods. The best thing to do is to visit a doctor or clinic to ensure that all is well.

Best of Luck.

Breakthrough bleeding is one of the top most common side effects of being on the pill. And also being on the pill will change the appearance, timing, and length of your period. Nothing in your post is any cause for concern. But if the breakthrough bleeding continues then you may have to switch to a different pill. Which is also not a big deal and a common thing to happen.

I've read breakthrough bleeding occurs only in the first 3 months. However this is my 5th month. Is it still possible to have breakthrough bleeding at this period? I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding ever since I started the pill which was January this year.
