Hi! My question is about excessive body hair and its relation to fertility.I would not say i have too much of body hair but i have growth(though mediumMedium chain triglycerides growth) at locations such as chinChin augmentation Chin augmentation - series, around nipples and around the navel.I would not call that the hair is very thick or coarse but i have to remove it by threading every 15 days or so.I dont know if this could be called as hirsutism bcoz i do not suffer from PCOS or anything. My body weight is perfectPerfect choice and i have regularRegular insulin cycles.I have been ttc for nearly 9 months without success. All our reports are normalNormal saline flush.I read somewhere that this hair growth is due to the prodution of excessive male hormone testosterone.I was just wondering if there could be any relation between this hair growth and fertility.
Well, yes, and no. How do you know you don't have pcos? It is generally not confirmed unless you've had specific testing. Further, you may have pcos and NO symptoms at all. Causes of excess hair can be numerous.
Having said that, even ladies who look like hairyHairy cell leukemia Hairy cell leukemia - microscopic view gorillas have babies so it really depends on what is causing excess hair. Some gals are just "blessed" with a few extra wisps and if it's simply genetic, it should not interfere with fertility. It would be good to have your hormones tested (simple blood test) to find out for sure.
Excess hair in women can have a few causes. One is genetic. Another thing is some ethnicities are more prone to it. It can also be hormonal. I agree with the above posters, just get a blood hormone test and get that burden off your shoulders. Good luck!
Thanks for your comments.i am sure i do not have PCOS as i have had specific tests and ultrasound done to rule that out.I've still not had a hormone test done. Thanks for suggesting....i would get it done soon.Dont know why my gynac never asked for that.Actually i do not have too much of hair but since i have some growth in those areas so it just came to my mind if that could be related to infertility. As for genetic causes....my mom has minimal body hair but i have a few cousins who have growth around their chin etc.Anyways I guess i should go for the hormone blood test and not draw conclusions on my own.
