Bowel Damage After Enterocele/Rectocele Repair

I had a Hysterectomy/Oopherectomy 6/06. Few months later my rectum prolapsed & an enterocele developed. Had surgery to repair in 10/06. Felt numb, after bowel movements, and gradually lost urge to have a BM. Has this happened to anyone else, and what, if anything did your doctor do to improve it? Diet has not helped, nor any supplements, etc. It is nerve damage.

Thanks for replying. I started seeing a Spine Specialist recently for back pain, and he suggested to me, a few weeks ago, that it might be bowel damage from my A& P Repair. At the time, we were discussing an upcoming procedure, so I didn't think to question him about his comment. I will certainly ask his PN at my appointment tomorrow morning. Again, thanks.

It does sound like nerve damage. Get a new opinion from the doc or another doctor, they might just say it takes time to heal or might think this is worth investigating. Good luck!
