Breast tissue in underarm

I have a lump on my underarm.  It is not painful but it is ugly and it makes me very self conscious.  When I got pregnant it really got big and filled with milk my doctor said it was breaast tissue that traveled into my armpit and that as long as it didn't hurt it really wasn't anything to worry about.  It just looks like extra baggy skin and as a result I can't wear sleeveless tops.  I've never known anyone else who has this to ask what they think or feel.  My husband thinks if it bothers me so much I shyould have it removed.  I am scared and want to know what the health risks are.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Shat should I do about it?

i am from india.. i wonder if doctors in india are aware of AXILLARY BREAST TISSUE. i have had this problem since i was about 20 years old.. it was small initially but now that i have gained weight it seems to have gotten bigger. i remember seeing it on my mom's armpit as well. so i assume it was hereditary..

i have not seen any doctor and i am extremely shy to show this to anyone. i was sure it was some sort of cancer (that is why i never felt like showing it to any doctors) until i stumbled on this forum today. i am happy to know that i am not the only one and there are many who can understand my embarrassment/shyness and relate to my problem.

I dont know if there is any kind of surgery performed in india for this ..and even if there is .. its gonna cost a fortune.... (we dont have any kind of insurance in india) so i will have to bear all the cost..

can anyone of tell me what kind of a doctor should i go to.??

your inputs will be much appreciated :)

what kind of doctor should i go to? any idea anyone..

Ok, here is my story. I posted a before pic yesterday.I went in the hospital @10:00 and pre-op was started. The nurse had me put on a robe and a pair of socks. She started an IV drip with fluids. Then the plastic surgeon came in and drew lines under both arms where he was going to cut. I lay down and was started on sedation. After that I was wheeled to the OR. The last thing I remember is the nurses spreading my arms out and putting the gas mask on my face. I woke up in the recovery room jabbering to the nurse in there. I couldn't believe it was over. My right arm had more tissue than the left side so, as I expected, I was sore on this side. I was released to my hubby and went home and ate lunch (hoagie). Then I took 2 Lortabs and later took the antibiotic I prescribed. The pain is mostly a burning sensation when I can feel it. I'm not supposed to lift over 5 lbs for a week. I have a follow up appt next week. As instructed, i showered today, used neosporin ointment, and changed my dressings. Both areas are swollen and tender. stitches on both sides. I am feeling ok. Pain meds make me very dehydrated/dry mouth, but I am ok otherwise! More follow up pics to come. I'm sorry for this rambling....if anyone has questions feel free to ask me!

Hello Guys,

I am thrilled to say that i just had my Axillary masses procedure done yesterday @2:00. I've had these lumps for 8 yrs, they started to get bigger and bigger. The right side was the size of a golf ball, and the other was a tab bit smaller, but they both were hanging. I started to get self-conscious couldn't wear a swim suit/sleeveless tops. I was afraid to mention it to my doctor due to embarrassment,

Just this last year i changed over doctors due to new insurance. And im glad i did, he was so down to earth, nice and did everything he could to satisfy me health wise. So i started to get comfortable around him, and finally told him about the lumps. I showed it to him, And he was like WHOOOAAA I never seen anything like this before. Boy! Did i feel
embarrassed but then he checked it, and told me it didn't look or feel like it was serious. He even asked me did it bother me, which it didn't painfully. but i told him it gets sore from time to time, cause that was the only way i could get a referral to have them moved with my insurance covering it.

So he referred me to a breast surgeon he was very familiar with the lumps, said it was normal and that he did multiply axillary breast procedures before. he was very nice about it, we set up an appt. to have
them removed, I feel soooo much better that they're gone. it's only
beeen 24 hrs, Both of the back of my arms are numb, very sore could
barely sleep last night, had to remain in one position. I cannot raise my arms, it hurts really bad if i try to. I am not to do hardly anything until
i see him next monday for weekly follow up.

If u have this problem, i advise you to get it tooken care of asap, its a great feeling, knowing you don't have to walk around with balls sagging from your arms looking like nut sacs. lol
