Bright Red Period

I just started my period 3 days ago on time and it has been bright red. It usually is not this color. It isn't heavy and seems to be normal, its just the color that worries me. I had surgery on my foot in the past week. I am on birth control and it is not possible that I'm pregnant because I have had many blood tests and such done because of the surgery. Maybe having surgery has something to do with it?  Any information would be appreciated

maybe but either way bloods supposed to be red. sounds very normal for a period. not normal if you werent on your period or something. i know iron can cause your blood to be dark so who knows (totally guessing) lack of iorn or something else causing a change in the color slightly

Umm. Yea I know foot surgery is not the cause I meant maybe the STRESS of surgery or something could have contributed to this.
