Brown discharge instead of red in regular period cycle.

Hi I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and took a contraceptive pill. For the past two months i have been experiencing a brownish discharge during my regular period cycle instead of normal red colour. Before these two months i had normal mensuration periods with red discharge and i had to change my pads 3-4 times a day. Could you please tell me why it is due to. I have no other symptoms of pregnancy like vomiting, nausea, morning sickness, fatigue  or anything. can some1 help me out.
