Burning sensation when urinating

so roughly one week ago my partner (male) and I believed our relationship was strong enough and long enough to have sex without a condom.

however, we both now have little red bumps that look like little pimples surrounding our genitalia. it also burns when i urinate.

how is it possible that this happened to both of us when neither of us had slept with anyone outside of our relationship? we are extremely confused and could use all the help and advice we could get.

Thank you! We went to the doctors today and had some testing done. They said it looks to be herpes but cannot confirm 100% till the results come in. Also the burning sensation is from a combination of a uti and a yeast infection. But we do appreciate your help very much.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to folliculitis or herpes.

Keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.

However get tested for herpes because it can be transmitted even if active infection is not there.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
