C-reactive Protein???

Does any one know what exactly this means? And is it that serious? I did some research but it talks mostly about heart attack and high cholesteral in older people. I am a young woman in mid twentys. I have a doctors appointment today. Does anyone know about this so I can ask the doctor certain questions? Thanks

Do you know why they are doing this test?  I would be able to tell you more specifically if there was a reason why.  You are right though it is a lab that pretty much is an indication if there is vessel wall breakdown or inflamation, but there may be other things it could indicate.

C-reactive protein test spots inflammation and the HS (High Sensity) is suppose to pick it up in the heart arteries. Some doctors use this test along with a SED rate test for other reasons also, i.e. autoimmune diseases, i.e. lupus family, etc.

Referance range at Quest Labs is <0.80.  My last two have been well below that number which is excellant seeing the four I had previously were well out of range. I do have heart issues and teeth problems and a bad knee so this test should be high in me yet the last 2 were below normal. Go figure!  Makes no sense to me. Good Luck.
