Can someone tell me if this is normal?

I have been due for my period for 4 days now but instead of my period I have been having dark brown discharge with some bits of blood in it but it has been stopping during the night. What does this mean will I be coming on my period soon?

Thank you. I have never had a period like this before I am usually heavy, not always on time but never more than a day or two. I usually last for 7 days non stop but this time Its like I only have more when I wipe then practically goes away and its like I am not on my period. I usually have really bad cramps but I don't have any this time. I hate going to the doctors but I have been meaning to see the nurse but I have just thought oh my period will come tomorrow.

Hi,
Usually the dark brown discharge at the beginning or end of your period is normal and is the body's way of cleaning out the old blood.  I've had a couple periods where I've only had the dark brown blood for 4 or 5 days, sometimes longer - with some red spotting in between, and that's it.  This is most likely your period this month and sounds normal.  Now If you've been having irregular periods, unprotected sex, abnormal pain or discomfort, then I'd suggest having yourself checked out, but this should be your normal period.  Good luck to you :)

Thank you for replying. So how long do you get that then start your next period?

I get that at the start of my period.  Its left over blood from the previous month mixed with CM.  Hope that helps.
