Can steroid pack affect Diflucan pill?

I have had some issues with my throat (I'm a singer) so my doc prescribed me a Medrol dose pack--one of those 5 day steroid packs, where you take 6 pills the first day, then 5, etc. etc.  Well, a couple of days after that, I noticed that I had a yeast infection.  Called the doc, and he called in Diflucan pill.
2 Questions--does the yeast infection have anything to do with the steroid (doubtful b/c one occured before the other)

Main question--can my using the steroid make the diflucan ineffective?  I can usually tell a difference by now, and don't have to take the 2nd dose.  But, tonight makes 48 hours since the first diflucan pill and still no relief.  Do steroids affect Diflucan?

Thanks...

I don't know if steroids affect the effectiveness of diflucan, but steroids will mess up your immune system and could very easily cause a yeast infection.

i was told once by my gyn that in some women a strong medication can balance out the natural cells we have in the vagina.. i got my first yeast infection last winter after i was prescribed strond antibiotics. when i went to see the gyn about this she told me it was VERY common to have a reaction like that and i was given the diflucan pill also. i was worried myself that the yeast infection was not gona go away since i was not finish taking the antibiotic that gave me the infection to begin with but it worked.. i know this might sound  a little weird to some people but she also told me to eat PLENTY of yogurt to make sure i get plenty of the bacteria which is found in yogurt, and that we actually need it in our body because it helps to produce tha lack of bacteria that we are missing in the vagina during a yeast infection... if you have doubt check out some women web sites a lot of them suggest yogurt during an infection. hope this helps...

I don't think the Medrol will render the Diflucan ineffective, but whether it will make the yeastie beasties harder to kill, of that I'm not sure.  As always, if something isn't improving after a few days, see your doctor.

(sorry I couldn't help more.  I get all my medical info on the job as a cable tv installer.  They don't usually do a very thorough job on covering yeast infections on Discovery Health).
