Can treating a yeast infection cause BV?

So, I've suffered from bacterial vaginosis for about 5 years, once to three times a year. Within the past two years, I've started getting yeast infections. My first yeast infection started BECAUSE of the medication I was given (metrogel with applicators), so I already know that BV treatment can cause yeast infections (which is such a tragedy because now if I ever have a problem I just want to cry feeling like it's going to give me over a month of trouble). I know the differences between a yeast infection and BV. BV, in my body atleast, causes a foul smelling discharge that is off-white or sometimes yellowish in color. When I've had a yeast infection, it itches and then burns if you itch it with a sore tightness and becomes inflamed when aggravated with a little discharge thats has "cottage cheese" similarities. But I've never had odor with a yeast infection, only with BV.

So now, about a week ago I felt the oncoming of a yeast infection. Oh no! I have no time to go to the doctors! So i get a 7 day miconazole applicator pack (I used a one day and 3 day before and it was just so painful and didnt help and i ended up wasting my money and having to go to the doctors anyway). I also bought AZO yeast tabs to make SURE it goes away. I used the last applicator last night and I only feel the faintest amount of itching (hooray!), so I figured, keep taking to azo tabs. Well today, I notice I still feel wet down there and I check and theres the BV odor and off-color discharge!!!! My word! Does it ever end?

I don't know what to do about my sexual area anymore. I've been getting UTI's since I was probably ten, BV for 5 years now, and yeast infections for 2. Am I doing something horribly wrong with my body? I eat pretty well, I'm a chef and know how to cook a good healthy meal, I'm not heavy, I'm not incredibly active besides work, walking, and household cleaning, but I'm not on the couch every moment. I don't use soap down there (ok every once in a while I have before thinking it would be a good idea and yes I have gotten an infection once and learned my lesson). I went through medical for the military last year (but i'm not in now, boot camp medical discharge, unrelated) and had passed with no problems in blood work or anything like that.

Did treating this yeast infection cause me to get BV? Or could this odor be from the medicine or the last symptoms of the yeast infection? If it is BV, I still have metrogel (because you never use the whole tube), and I thoroughly washed out a few of the last applicators, so I could do the 7 day application. I'm just so sick of treating one infection to get another. What can I do to stop this from happening if it has caused BV? What am I doing wrong?
