Canker Sore in Vagina After being sick

I had a really bad cold this week with a fever for about 2 days. The past couple of days I have been wearing really tight thongs and did yoga with tight pants with no underwear on. I thought I might have chaffed myself due to these things. I looked down there recently and noticed 2 symmetrical "canker sore" looking things right where my thong would usually get stuck. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? It's freaking me out a bit.

Boils and abscess sores can form in the vagina.  Herpes simplex 1- non-STI form usually caused fever blisters can spread to genitals causing genital herpes simplex 1 and the STI form is herpes simplex 2 which is more serious than type 1.  Genital warts and lumps can also form.  A number things can cause a sore in the vagina even a small injury, scratch, or cut, etc.

Omg I think I might be having the same problem!! Yeast infection (diagnosed under the microscope) then after two rounds of diflucan I noticed a strong smell and thought it could be both bv and yeast at the same time. Now I have one ulcer/crater thing near my opening. It doesn't hurt to pee on it. But I am also getting cold sores on my mouth ( I knew I had HSV 1 orally, and maybe just breaking out due to the stress?) but I go in for testing tomorrow. I feel like the doctors don't give a straight answer about herpes. So scared and praying that the crater could be caused by the bv/yeast and or the many home remedies ive tried on it.

Also when I was first diagnosed with MCTD I would get rashes on my hands, fingers, arms, etc.  They would itch so bad and leak clear fluid.  Since then I haven't had any rashes on my skin but now I can no longer wear pads of any kind, I will break out horribly from the pad coming in contact with my skin.  I am not sure if its the heat and rubbing together but I tested it out and now only can wear tampons during my period.  Panty liners dont bother me.

I have had this happen to me as well and I have an autoimmune disease.  I also had a huge boil/abcess a few years ago between the cheeks of my butt.  My mother is right now in the hospital probably not going to make it I think it is all stress related because I havent had had any yeast infections or anything.  I also have what I thought was athletes foot but its not because it wont go away no matter what i use for it.  Its a small patch on the bottom of my foot in the arch and its dry and wont go away.

I am extremely sick now and just noticed "canker sore" looking spots (two) inside my lips and am just super freaked out.  Ive been tester prior and am now married for two years.  Reading this page makes me feel a little better just hope if I choose to wait it out, and not go to the doctor, I am making the right choice.

This happened to me as well in 2007 when I was a 17 year old virgin! The doctors were positive it was an STD and I was tested for everything before they finally believed me. A dermatologist eventually diagnosed me with Apthous Stomatitis (reoccurring canker sores.)  The sores were triggered by dehydration and a very weak Immune system. Since then, I have had tiny canker sores between my fingers as well as canker sores in my mouth EVERY TIME I get sick.

I am experiencing the same thing. Canker sores, not cold sores on my nether regions. They are EXTREMELY painful. I have been in a totally monogamous rrelationship since 2006, so I doubt it is HSV2. I've been all over the internet searching. I figured it had to be HSV1 (my husband was super sick right after we had sex) and 2 days later he got sores in his mouth and I got them on my vagina. But all the material I have read about herpes INSISTS they are COLDSORES wherever they pop up. Everyone says either way stress triggers the outbreaks, but its REALLY hard NOT to stress when you can't confirm exactly whats going on. The doctor prescribed me acyclovir - but only AFTER i told him my condition got worse. I had a blood test and culture taken today so hopefully I will hear soon. I'm curious about this autoimmune thing.

I have half a mind to write a paper on this. Obviously it is a more common issue than we all thought. Thanks for all your bravery and coming forth to ask/talk about this ladies. Its the closest I've come to finding answers.

Hi I been reading these post and they kind of help my shedding light on other conditions but I personally am still worried. I got tested about 4 weeks ago when two canker type sores showed up near the opening of my vagina. I wasn't worried but my doctor immediately told me it was herpes then took a swab and blood test. The two sores went away and the tests came back negative but he told me to come back in 3 weeks to get another test just to be safe. Since my last visit I've had 3 more pop up one in which is really big and another is more like a painful knot on my vagina lip. I'm only 19 and have only had sex with my boyfriend who I know is clean. On top of it all I'm about a month late for my period and I've been having pregnancy symptoms as well as a stuffy nose and wet cough. Any ideas or advice?

I have had this 3 times. All 3 times it started just before my period and this last time I had an upper respiratory infection and it was the worst one. Who ever is saying it's an STD and this can't happen, you are wrong. I have been with one man my whole life, I don't have STD's. I've had blood work and cultures, all negative.  This is obviously something caused by illness or infections. It's very painful and I had to request Lidocaine topical for the pain. I HIGHLY suggest it. I couldn't even walk or go to the bathroom without it! I am allergic to Penicillins too. I'm not sure how to treat it but I'm going back to the doctor because it's been a week and They are still there.

Last week I had a minor cold (sore throat that turned into a stuffy nose).  Two days into it, I started to get an itching feeling, like I was going to get a yeast infection.  I bought some OTC medication to treat it.  The next day I checked it out, and noticed 4 large canker sore looking ulcers.  I freaked out!  I was lucky enough to get a gyno appointment the next morning.  She said it looked exactly like herpes, and tested me for herpes, chlamydia, GC, and yeast imbalance; all came back negative.  My doctor has no idea what they are, and is requiring me to get a blood test.  The only far fetched situation that she could come up with, is if I had gotten herpes from the bathroom stall door lock.   She also said that if the ulcers or sores are tested too late, that it could come up as a negative, but I was only two days in, so that is highly unlikely.
As of right now, it's a complete mystery.  I just hope that it doesn't happen again!
She did put me on antiviral medication right away, just in case it had been herpes....which confusingly is helping!  Confusing her and confusing me!
It seems from all of the other posts though, that this seems to be stress/immune system related.  It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one with this bizarre occurrence!

All this sounds like herpes type 1!!! Has everyone on here specifically get tested for both type 1 and type 2 herpes???
I would freak out if I saw a canker sore on my vagina!!!
I found an abrasion once freaked out whent to a dr! The stupid dr wouldn't swab the area for herpes!!!! I still will never know if it is or not! It pisses me off!!! But I only had one abrasion not multiple and at the time I was suffering from a yeast infection and BV!!!

I have these stress related break outs..and as crazy as it sounds I read that if you crush a tylenol and mix with just a little bit of water to form a paste after applying the pain goes away and it lasts all day..so being at my wits end I tried it...and guess what? IT WORKS! This has been a life saver..and it also seems to make the go away quicker..if u are having this issue I urge u to try it..RELIEF!

I was sick about a week and a half ago as well--  I also got 3 small canker sore looking things on my labia, freaked out, went to the doctor, got tested for everything under the sun. Everything came back negative. Long story short, sometimes it is just canker sores--- they happen when your immune system is down. Unfourtunatly you just have to wait them out. I find witch hazel pads soothe the area and if you squirt water down there as you pee, it takes the burn away.   (No sex til they heal up though! even though they are not contagious, that skin needs to rebuild itself and friction can really irritate them and prolong your healing time!)         Most answers on here do NOT come from ppl with PhDs--  No, it is NOT always an STD.

I am experiencing the same thing now. I just felt awfully nauseated for the last 2-3 weeks and my husband and I just had sex 2 days ago... now I have what looks like a canker sore on my outer lip of my vagina near the opening and it is extremely painful to walk or urinate! I don't think it's herpes though, because I've been with my husband for a year now and neither of us have STDs.

Whenever I get badly run down or sick I sometimes get ulcers on the inside of my vagina just at the opening. I started getting them when I was about 12 even though I wasn't sexually active.I got very bad swelling and painful ulcers, they were especially painful when they eventually burst. It was VERY painful and I couldn't walk properly and it stung like crazy when going to the toilet, I was even admitted to hospital. My doctor told me it was a form of Herpes but I don't understand how it could have been as I had never had sex. Im now 28 and I don't have any STDS, but I still get ulcers every so often, (sometimes not for years) when Im run down.I haven't had it as bad again as when I was 12, thankfully.I can take medication for it and use cremes which do help alot, and I try my best to live a healthy life, I don't smoke and drink much either so I guess that might also help. Ive been told by my doctor it is something that stays in your system for the rest of your life. Its something I have learned to live with, until hopefully they can find a cure for it one day

There is an auto-immune disordert that can cause vaginal and labial ulcerations. It is extremely painful, EXTREMELY. It happened to my daughter when she was a virgin and just 18 years old. The doc was very condescending and the test came back negative for STD. The crazy thing is that it happened to ME when I was in my 40's, no intimate partner. It too, followed a serious viral outbreak and 3 weeks of illness. It was accompanied by fever and misery. Only one outbreak.

The point is that it isn't always std's. You need the peace of mind that it is not by being tested. It has a name that I don't recall. Look up autoimmune. The key is to de-stress.

Thanks for the comment. I have had a number of people email me after posting this who also had a similar thing happen to them after being sick. I actually saw my doctor two weeks ago and mentioned it to her and she said that sometimes it happens and not to worry about it. I too knew it wasn't an STD b/c I have always been tested very regularly but of course anything in that area always freaks people out.

I had something similar to this recently. I had some irritation after sex with my fiancee, and then got a yeast infection.. One of my lymph nodes in my Pelvis became enlarged and painful..  Later, I got something that looked very similar to a canker sore.. I went strait to my gynocologist after reading horror stories online that this was def. an STD.. I got tested and it turn out it was just a small abrasion and I am totally healthy! You can get these types of sores and it can just be a common infection..
