Around puberty I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia. At the time my parents simply gave me over-the-counter supplements with a daily vitamin, because my father also had this as a child. Several years later I found out I had Hashimoto's. When my dosage was changed recently noticed digestion problems. Moved my meds around to where there was a 4 hour gap between the iron and synthyroid. Feeling better after this but still not 100%. Have insomnia, abdominal bloating after food, and fatigue.
Back before Hashimoto's diagnosis, asked the doctor about the anemia thing, if there is a connect with the thyroid stuff, and was he sure about the diagnoisis. He told me that there wasn't a connnection (which I was already told there was) and that the only definite he knew about the anemia was that my cell size was on the small side but all the rest was good.
I'm worried about iron overload or future illnesses caused by something not being treated properly.Should I look into this further to find a definite answer about the anemia and whether I'm getting the correct treatment?
