Cervical Cultures- what is this about?
My RE recently scheduled me to get a cervical culture done before I start any Clomid.  I know it is to check for certain problems in my uterus that could be causing the infertility, but what is this procedure?  Is it like a pap?   I would like to know what the procedure is about.

Cervical Cultures refers generally to any cultures taken from the uterine cervix, and specifically to cultures for:
Chlamydia
Gonorrhea
Normally, these cultures are negative. Positive cultures should be treated, as asymptomatic carriers are common, particularly for chlamydia.

Other cultures sometimes taken from the cervix include:

Streptococcal culture
General genital culture
Herpes simplex (HSV) culture

Hope this made some sense
Good Luck

Well, what is the process like?   Is it like a pap or more intrusive?
