Cipro and Oral Contraceptives.

Last week, I was diagnosed with a UTI.  I was prescribed 500mg of Cipro and I took it two times a day for five days.  On my last day, I noticed that my vaginal discharge had changed colors.  It was a very, very, very light brown (tan) color, but I didn't think much of it until it progressively got darker.  (I've also had very slight vaginal itching, but it only happens a couple times a day.)  I called my doctor's office this morning and spoke with a nurse, and she told me that it just sounded like I was getting my period early and/or had breakthrough bleeding.  I want to believe it's nothing abnormal, but I've been reading some scary things about sudden changes in vaginal discharge.  I've also read on several sites that Cipro is one of a few antibiotics that doesn't have an adverse effect on oral contraceptives, but I've also read some stuff about others that had similar reactions after discontinuing Cipro.  As you can probably already tell, I'm confused and could use some sound answers/advice.
