I it done also.  The doctor said not to have any sexual activity after the procedure but I did a day after.  Is this going to hurt me in any way right now?  The doctor says it might cause an infection but so far I am feeling fine.  However, I am still having some discolored discharge, I suppose thats normal.  Can you answer & confirm my observations is nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks

I have been told by the doctor that i have to have a colopscopy examination, but as yet am still waiting for my appointment from the hospital.  Surely if there was anything to be worried about they would have sent me the appointment straight away? Its been nearly 3 weeks.  I am petrified they will find something wrong, but dont want to put off the appointment any longer. I just want to know whats what!

Try to stay calm and take care of yourself & BREATHE!  The FEAR of the "C" word and or diagnosis scares all of us - believe me! Read on please...

My pap came back abnormal at the end of January and then the Colopscopy came back 2/13 with a diagnosis of endocervical adenocarcinoma with an immediate referral to an oncologist 14 days ago.

They immediately scheduled a D&C and Leep procedure (outpatient surgery) the biopsies and pathology report came back with NO malignancies.  My oncologist is now researching ALL of my slides from the Pap and Colopscopy because the diagnosis of "cervical cancer" now is being diagnosed as chronic cervicitis - VERY CONFUSING for all of us.  I should know more in a week or so but for today I am taking care of my body and whole health.  I only went through three days of major shock then I suited up and showed up and will continue to do what I have to do to work it out OR IT WILL WORK ME.

The FEAR and details they talked about were worse than ANY of the procedures!  Stay calm and if you need support visit my blog at www.carolynhimes.info and I will be glad to help you any way I can.

i recently had one of those(like last month)...and i was 13 weeks preggo...its not a big deal AT ALL....the only thing that really hurt for me, was those stupid metal things they use to keep you open...but then again...they didnt take any biopsy because of me pregnant...basically my prenatal pap revealed some abnormal cells, so they did the vinegar solution to reveal the cells that were abnormal...doc said there were some 'slight changes' and to come back 8 weeks post partum...did they tell you why they want to do a colposcopy?
the abnormal cells they found in mine were consistant with a type of HPV...im not too worried though, especially since the docs didnt seem worried.

good luck! im sure all will be well

I had a colposcopy about 5 years ago..everything was fine....have had normal paps since then and didn't need any treatment like LEEP, etc.  Anyway, i didn't feel the experience was too bad.  Some minor discomfort and if they take tissue you amy cramp a bit, but nothing you can't handle...for me it was not even as bad as menstrual cramps.  If they do take some tissue, they use something (i forget what it's called ) but you'll need to wear a pad for a few day...something that looks like coffee grinds will come out of you as discharge.  It's really not that bad and try not to worry.

I just posted above you for my LEEP.
My best advice is take ibuprofin before you go.  If they take tissue samples it will hurt a bit and it will take the edge off.  I didn't learn that until the second time.
Just relax.  It is usually nothing.  Best of luck.  Let me know how it goes.
