Hello,
This delaying of periods can be due to stress and anxiety, malnutrition, smoking, depression, overexercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity),thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS). Sometimes tumors of the ovaries and brain may also cause absence of menstruation.
I suggest you to consult a gynecologist and get investigated for these causes.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Thanks for the response however I am only 25 so I don't think that's the cause for my missed period. I think im going to call to planned parenthood tomorrow and see what they say. Im concerned that they may try to give me pills to try to make me start my period and if i am in fact pregnant could it harmful??
I don't know your age, but I am 34 and when I was missing them last year (I now get them every 2 months, but have gone as long as 3 months and used to be every 28 days on the nose) my OBGYN said I was most likely going through peri-menopause. If you're under 30 I'd think not. but over 30 it's a possibility. Wait another 4 weeks and test again or ask your Dr. what they recommend.
