Contemplating bladder repair surgery

Good Morning Everyone,

I am contemplating bladder repair surgery and I was wondering if I might get so information about what to I will have to deal with when I get home from the hospital.

It will be done Transabdomially. My doctor said I'll have a foley Catheter and a drain. My question with the catheter is, I'll have to wear it home for about a week. I assume I won't be able to wear jeans and do I have to carry it around or is it somehow affixed to me? Is sleeping with it a problem?

As to the drain, it drains into what?

Thanks, Anne

I had bladder surgery on 2/13/08.  I understand I only had the mesh to lift the bladder because I didn't have incontinence.  I feel that the bladder is dropped again, and wonder if this is common?  I see my doctor this afternoon and I am so angry about this that I want to make sure I know what to ask about.  Can this really happen?  How can the bladder drop
down when it is supposed to be lifted up with the mesh?

Hi Anne,
My sister had this surgery done about 2 years ago.  She never had to wear the bag home.  She was in the hospital 5 days, and then had no problems whatsoever.
