Copper IUD removal, no period?

I had my copper IUD removed over a month ago (the day after my period started).  I am now 5 days late which is *very* unusual for me.  My husband and I have used a condom every time we've been together, and I have had negative pregnancy tests, so I can't imagine that I'm pregnant.  Anyone else have this happen?  What was the end result?

I am having the same symptoms. Took my Paraguard IUD out Dec 6th and had my period Dec 10th. It lasted a week and two days later I started having pregnancy symptoms. It has now been 4 days and I still feel like this. Sore breasts/nipples, intense cramping, headaches, fatigue. Whats going on?? I am supposed to ovulate in 2 days. Could I be pregnant?? We have had sex almost everyday since my period ended.

Hi there.  It IS always nice when someone comes back and answers, I agree.  If you are curious about someone, you can send them a note or private message and they might respond back to you.  ??  That's one way to find out if they didn't come back.  You could post your own question on the trying to conceive forum and someone may respond.  Part of the problem is that this is an old thread.  Wishing you the best.  I did have this experience myself but wanted to welcome you and hope it all works out for you soon.  peace

So I am reading everyone's story and I still don't seem to be relating to any of them. My Copper IUD came out in which I have no clue how long it was out of place. On Feb 14 is when I was aware of it hanging out of my cervix. I went to have it removed three days later at the urgent care. Since then I came on March 7th for about 3 days then it stopped. Of course that was very unusual as everyone knows when you have the copper IUD you have very heavy and lengthy cycles but Ignored it.  it is now April 21 2016 and still no period. I have mild symptoms such as slightly sore breast, fatigue, mild cramping, very mild Nausea and emotions which are all over the place. But when I took the test this morning it was negative.

Hi I was just wondering if you ever got your period and how long you had to wait. I had the paraguard iud removed on April 1st, 2016 during my period. However we are in June and so far no period since then. Thanks
I got my Paragard IUD removed June 17 2016 because I was cramping so bad and my back hurt so bad I thought I had a bad kidney infection.. The IUD had slid down and was coming out, hence the intense pain. The start of my last period was May 29. It's July 12 still no period, breasts are sore, nausea, diarrhea, cramping and I'm an emotional wreck! I took one ept pregnancy test a week ago and it said negative.. I'm worried but my mom did pass away in May so I'm hoping it's just stress..because this has never happened before. I definitely relate the the above story.. Did you ever get your period or figure out what's going on???
Hi there I was wondering if your cycles returned to normal? I have had the copper coil removed and having the same problems. No period, well over a week late with bloating and usual period symptoms but no period. Not pregnant as done a test. So frustrating as can't work out when / ifI'm ovulating!! :(
The exact same thing is happening to me. I removed the iud on June 28 it is now August 22 and still no period. I've take a urine and blood pregnancy test and they say negative. This had never happened before so I'm getting worried.

Hi ladies

I had my copper coil in for 5 years and I got it removed on 12th November 2015. My periods have always been the same and flow before I got it in and while it was in. November period was 4 days I usually last 5 thought nothing of it as it was normal flow. The following months I had a period that was brown for 3 days. One that was pink very light lasted 1 and half and then this month March 4th my period was red wasn't heavy hardly anything on my towel just when I wiped this was for 2 days then I went brown spotting for 4 days this is so frustrating has anyone experienced this

WOW...I did not expect theses responses. Im 39 years old and I had removed my Copper T Feb 15th due to major cramping and heavy periods. It was in me for only 14 months. I have also developed ovarian cysts in which they were removed on their own. I was told that my cycles would resume to normal after my next period . Well...the following month March no period...May no period and went for a pregnancy test negative.  I had unbearable cramping to the point of going to the hospital they did not know what was wrong. All my tests came back negative. We are now into June and I'm getting worried. Ive gained weight..I have symptoms of being pregnant but I'm not. No one knows why....Why is that?
Did you get your period yet? I had my paragard removed got a light period for 2 days a week later and haven't gotten my period for 62 days after that.  I am not having sex so no chance of pregnancy for me.

I had my copper Coil put in on the 22nd of December 2015 and was in so much pain over Christmas (which it ruined) I had to have it taken out 2 weeks later, I had to work with a hot water bottle up my jumper and have customers asking me when I was due. I haven't had a period at all, I had a little bleeding when I had It put in but they said that was normal but no period , I have had some side effect of pregnancy like sore breast, nausea (but only vomited a few times) and I have started to put on a little weight but everytime I've taken a pregnancy test they've all negative, even the ones I had to take when I was having and removing of my copper coil and the one they also made me take a week after having the copper coil

So what happened did you end up being pregnant or not???

I have been cramping for about 3 days (IUD removed almost a week ago) My husband and I are TTC, and had sex twice after removal. Wondering if this mild cramping is symptom of removal or pregnancy. Any thoughts?

In fact is does affect it.  Copper as a metal affects the entire biochemistry of the woman and can cause irregularity the period. Just FYI

After removing my copper paragard i.u.d. my period was delayed 6 days.  It was a very frustrating experience as there is no official medical research and information regarding this side effect.  I ended up taking two pregnancy tests that came out negative because my period was on a regular 28 day cycle.  I did drink parsley tea and consume large doses of vitamin c (in powder ascorbic acid form from whole foods), which within 24 hours my period started. Major relief!! I think the removal of the device causes a slight trauma on the uterus/cervix and for some women it delays their cycle.

I am freaking out because I am TTC and had my paragard removed last month on the 11th, had my period on schedule on the 16th. My DH and I had sex for 2 and 1/2 weeks straight everyday ttc around my ovulation cycle. I am now 9 days late but the blood test that I had done last week (around 3 days late) showed only 2.39 on my BetaHCG levels. I know that I am pregnant but all HPT's, Urine at the doctor's, and blood test have come up negative. I just wanted to know if it is possible for the removal of a paragard to set off some kind of hormonal imbalance that mimics pregnancy symptoms. Any advice or knowledge is greatly appreciated.

I had my IUD out almost 2 months ago after having it for four years. The day it was removed and day after I had slight spotting but had discharge Cpl of weeks later but  since then nothing. My husband and I had sex the two days before removal.since then no sex. Hubby is offshore. I have done preg. Tests but negetive. It is quite odd for me to not get my monthlies at all. I have always flowed heavy but been off a week or so each month. But never like this. I have tender breasts and I am bloated. Is this just due to body recovering from iud or what. Need some answer.

I had mine removed the last day of my last period,, after having the copper one in for 2 years. I am about 3 days late for my period...but NO chance I'm preganat..havent has sex since May and two periods since then. I've had all my PMS symptom s and would be very happy if bloating would go away!!! Driving me crazy! When willl my PMS be over even if I have no period? But to those of you worried about pregancy, it seems alot of people are posting about not having a period after copper IUD removal as well. ...I dont think it has ot do with hormones....i think our bodies just dont reognize the forgeign object to be "washed" out... percieving it maybe as an egg that the period usually cleanses your body of?? Since I had heavier periods and more cramps with the IUD...I'm assumging the body is trying to corret itself with less blood and less cramps...but hormones still come??...just a theory!

hi im having the same issue as you. i had my iud removed last month and i havent had my period. no cramps no spotting. iv taken a pregnancy test and its negative. i have no pregnancy symtoms no  sore breast. not notting of the pregnancy symtoms its weird.  i remember the nurce telling me at the doctors office when i was having it removed that if i had sex a week prior to the removal i was going to become pregnant as sooon as the iud was removed because the sperm lives 5-7 days in the  vagina until the iud takes over and removes it. and i did wait my week prior to removing it. the only thing possible is that  some sperm stayed alive prior to the removal. well good luck to all.

Your late period would have nothing to do with the copper IUD removal, other than if a pregnancy happened. The copper IUD has no hormones in it. I would wait a few days and if your AF hasn't arrived, test again using FMU.
