I'm noy feeling any cramping or pain but I am worried about the bleeding. In the past two months its stoped twice and it seems to act up more after sex. Help please.

I've been in a similar situation. Had the copper IUD for about 3 years. After 2 years, I started having constant spotting, which lasted for 2 months, but luckily stopped on its own. However, not long after, I started spotting again and after another 2 months, it went from spotting to light bleeding. I decided enough was enough, so I got it taken out,  but the bleeding continued. My obgyn thought I was having a miscarriage, but the tests came out clear. I also got a pelvic ultrasound, which also came out fine.

At its worse, the bleeding would be as heavy as having a permanent period. I would pass clots even now and then. But then, one day, 6 months after, the bleeding just stopped. My obgyn has no clue what happened and, quite frankly, he didn't seem to care.

I know it can be nerve wracking, but most of the time, bleeding non-stop down there is no big deal, especially if you have an IUD (how ironic, I know). Just make sure to let your ob know. In the meantime, get more iron in your diet to avoid suffering from anemia. Oh, and get yourself a diva cup. That thing was a lifesaver for me, both for convenience and cost.

Hang on in there xx

I'm in the same boat.  Had my on for over 9 months and I'm so irregular. I feel like I'm constantly bleeding, I'm never not on my period. I've been on my period since JULY 1st,  had a "break" for five days, first week of August (still spotted ) and now just starting my heavy flow, again (second week of August) . I'm so over it. It was so painful to have it inserted, I'm terrified that will hurt as bad to have it removed. But the constant bleeding and the "discomfort" during sex is so annoying.  Does anyone have gone through the same situation?

I am in the exact same boat! I got my copper t in August 3rd and there has only been 4 days of not bleeding. I have been bleeding every day besides that four day period. I'm scared that maybe she did not insert it correctly but I am freaking out to go get it checked out because of how bad my experience was to have it inserted. I got cold and clammy, vomited, diarrhea, EXCRUCIATING cramps, and then sweaty all within an hour. It was the worst day of my life.
Getting it removed is nothing like the insertion. I barely felt a thug when they took it out, but I was KO for a full day when they put it in.

Good day.

I had the copper t inserted in December last year i haven't stopped bleeding till today. I went to my gineo and he told me the clinic where i have inserted it did not do it right because the copper t is not nearly in the right place.  He took the old one out and put a new one in the end of Feb, but i am still bleeding.  Do you maybe have advice for me????????????

I am re-reading these comments, remembering how some of them helped me when I first the coil and was freaking out. I also wanted to share my story and opinion with anyone who is reading this looking around for help and advice desperately through the internet. I got the UID Copper coil fitted 4/5 months ago and after a lot of panic and thought I am sticking with it (for now). At the beginning when I got it fitted, I bled pretty much non-stop for a whole month. At the end of that month I wanted to take it out because it was driving me crazy, my doc said I couldnt yet (I had used it as emergency contraception too so they were worried it wouldnt have an affect). I stayed with it and slowly slowly through the second month, the bleeding calmed down and stopped. Every now and then, even now I will get spotting and instinctively I freak out but it is just the coil - it does that. Periods are horrific, really really painful and so so heavy, and coming from never having had a bad, heavy period before I am not very happy. But there are good things about it for me - I dont have to put any extra hormones in my body and that makes me feel better, and I dont have to worry about contraception all the time, forgetting my pill etc. BUT I honestly think - if, firstly, you're considering the coil and you're not sure, here's the warning: it will be a pain in the *** and painful too for a while, maybe longer or shorter than me. If you have it and you've been bleeding for many months- I would personally have taken it out by now. But this message is to reassure you - it will stop, someday. I dont know how long it will take, but one day it will be normal again, and if you can wait for it - its great for another 4-10 years after. :) IF you're being driven crazy - get it taken out, its not a good method for you if it is stressing you out and making you unhappy. Sorry about my rambling, I hope this helps someone. Good luck!

I had an IUD about 2 years ago and I hate I got it I stay on my menstrual for almost 2 months then when I was off I couldnt have intercouse b/c it was soooo painful I really couldnt sit up b/c I felt something sticking me then plus i caught some kind of infections and when i went back to the doctor they told me that the doctor who did it place it in wrong (now i had it done at the same clinic).

I say do now use any of those birth control method all of it cause a side effect and later on down the line when u want to have kids ur not going to be able. my husband and I been trying for 3 year and nothing happen I had the depo, the IUD the pill, none of that stuff is good for us read the labels and the side effect PLEASE!!

I had a copper iud after my daughter was born and i loved it.
I chose to have the merena after just having my son because the dr said it was even more effective. Well i know i wont get pregnant because i am always spotting every day so sex is something we just dont have.I DID LOVE THE COPPER iud.

Interesting. I had Mirena IUD and the bleeding would not stop for 3-4 months, so decided to try copper IUD and LOVED IT! The bleeding stopped and I never had any problems or bleeding in between periods. My periods were more regular than ever! The only thing I noticed with the copper t is that I had heavier periods. But that was it. I would recommend it to everyone! I would give it a little bit of time. It's such a great, worry free form of birth control! Good luck!

It's not common to have nonstop bleeding.  Go back to your doctor to figure out what's causing it.
