D&C ?? related to having miscarriage

Hi ladies,
I just went through my first ivf cycle and became pregnant. It looks now like I may miscarry in the next week. I also may need a D&C. I was wondering if a D&C is done under general anesthesia or twilight? I would prefer twilight as general makes me very sick. Anyone know??

Thanks,
Carisa

i had my first D&C friday after an incomplete miscarriage. they did it at my OB's Hospital as an outpatient surgery. I was under general anastesia. Didnt feel a thing, woke up all better (i'd been bleding and cramping for weeks before the miscarriage and bleeding after). i had no side affects, and within 12 hours had no more bleeding, and havent had bleeding since. they gave me oxycontin for pain, if i needed it, but did not. if there is a specific type of medication you have problems with they can give you something else. they were very careful with my anestesia and i was out and awake within a half hour, so they dont have to knock you out for all day.

I have had 2 d and c you don't want to be awake for it.  Take the anethisa but tell them of your dificulties with it.

I agree with the post above. I just had a d&c 2 weeks ago and its not something you want to awake for. Just make sure and let them know how sick you become afterwards and if there's anything they can do to help.

I am very sorry for you loss. Was this your 1st? Take care and god bless.
