Depo Luprom

As I have mentioned before, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I had surgery to get it removed, but I am still experiencing a lot of pain. My GYN wants to put me on depo Lupron until my husband and I are ready to have our last child. I have heard that many women lose bone density from taking this drug and experience many other side effects like being menopausal.  Some women have said they have had no side effects from taking it, but I am one of those people who usually experiences the effects. Could this drug be right for me to take, or would it be a big mistake?

From personal experience, my gyn prescribed 6 months of it to me when I was only 16 after a pelviscopy for severe endometriosis. I gained a good 40lbs and had hot flashes, those were my only side affects. The medicine makes you retain a lot of fluid and my gyn didn't think because I was so young that I would retain it.. If you go on it, ask for fluid pills also to be safe..

The Lupron shot DOES NOT help you have a baby. It helps with the pain from endometriosis and cramps. I took my second dose. I am suffering with hot flashes and achy bones. Other than those slight complications, it was great. It makes your period stop for months.

I was on lupron for my endometriosis. I received a 3-month shot in Nov. 2004, and my second 3-mo. shot in Feb. 2005. I will tell you exactly what happened to me, not that you will feel exactly the same. After I got the first shot, which was like cold jello being shot into my lower back/upper butt cheek with the longest needle ever, I had pain at the site of the shot for a week or so. After that, for those 3 months, I felt better than I've felt in years! I was no longer fatigued all day, my periods disappeared, I felt fabulous! Then I got the second shot. I'm pretty sure, looking back on things, that my 1st shot had not worn off yet when I received shot number 2. I had hot flashes every day--noticeable to the people I was working with and uncomfortable, but not the end of the world, besides, I work in a very hot store, so that contributed, I'm sure. The other thing that got to me was that I expected it to wear off in May so I could go back to TTC. It didn't wear off till late August. It lasted 9 mos. instead of 6. As far as bones go, I've always gotten more than enough calcium, but I did experience lower spine pain while on lupron. It has since gone away. I've never had a fracture in my life.

First I am sorry to hear about you having endometriosis.
I really can not tell you whether this drug will be right for you or not. I think you should look more into it and decide whether it is right for you or not. I was searching on the web for a helpful website and I came across several. Hope this helps!
Also, if you go to ask.com and type in Depo Lupron there are many websites. Many websites have people who have taken it and their experiences.
