Depo injection- heavy continuous bleeding?

I've been on the depo injection for about 9 months. A few months ago I had a heavy period that lasted over a month. Now I've started to bleed heavily again and am afraid it will last for months. Is heavy continuous bleeding normal on the depo injection? Is there anything I can do to help with lessening the bleeding?
