Diet Pop

by potts20, Dec 16, 2007 10:24PM
I have just recently switched from regular pop to diet.  (Recently as in yesterday).  I really hate diet, and when I go without regular pop, I get headaches.  I was just wondering though if I really can lose a lot of weight just by switching the pop?  How long will it take to get used to diet, or will I ever get used to it?  I hope I can do this.  I am trying to lose weight, and this is where I am starting because I was told by a lot of people that just by switching to diet pop, that I will lose quite a bit of weight.  I am so addidtecd to regular, and it is a hard thing.  I did it once, but once I had a miscarriage, I went back to regular pop, much worse than before.  Any support would be greatly appreciated.

By substituting diet pop for regular, you will consuming ZERO calories rather than several hundred in the regular drink and anytime you save calories, you can lose weight.  Of course it depends how much regular pop you drink as to what the actual impact this will have - if you drink one can a day, by switching to diet you may only lose 1 Ib in a year.

It took me about 2 months to get used to the taste of diet soda.  I personally find the sodas sweetened with Splenda (CokeZero for instance) taste better than the regular diet options.  Now I find that regular soda tastes strange! LOL

Of course, any time you want to lose weight you should implement a healthy diet and start a regular exercise program.  Muscles actually BURN calories and thus increase your metabolism (unlike fat which just stores energy) - the more muscle mass you have, the more you can eat (or if you eat the same amount, this equates to weight loss).

Good Luck!

Yea, I used to drink about a full 2 liter a day of regular pop.  I am craving it right now, but I keep telling myself, and my husband keeps telling me that its all in my head, and that I dont need it.  I know I liked diet cherry vanilla dr. pepper.  Thanks for your comment.
