Do I have herpes?

A few months ago I had a small, sore pimple on my vagina.  I went away and no again, I have it.  Both times, I got it a few days into my period.  I'm afraid I have herpes.  And even though I have researched it, I still dont understand it.  I know that alot of people have it and it wont kill you.  What I dont understand is when you can infect others and when you are safe...or will you always infect others?  The medications out there for herpes I think take the bumps away, but I don't think they do anything to prevent infection.  I am going to the doctor about this, but my question is, is there a time where herpes is not transimttable?  And how do you maximize that time?  I hope that made sense.

Thank you very much!  I am going to get it checked out by the doctor, but it's good to get an idea from others rather than go in blind.  I did have some pain, but once the pimple burst...it stopped.  And today I do have burning urination, but I am a diabetic and have that sometimes anyway, so not sure.  Thank your your response.

Thank you, but I dont see anything there that answers my question specifically.  Update...today I noticed that the bump had a head on it with mucus.  It popped it and it no longer hurts.  Everything I read about genital warts, I have not seen anything saying that they can have puss.  They always say, fleshy and cauliflower like.  Can genital warts be like a pimple?  Thank you.

I have herpes, and that's not anything that I'am proud of, but there is always the possiblilty that you can contact it to someone else because the blisters aren't always visable right a way. The herpes outbreak comes very easy when it can sense that the body is stressed. HOnestly from what you say I don't think you have it, because if you did you would have certain symptoms. You would have pain where those blisters are. Pain during urination, walking, anything. Definetly during your firt outbreak, because it's the worst. You can go months w/o an outbreak even years! SYmptoms from herpes is like the common cold....fever, headaches, diarrea, things along those lines...but try not to stress yourself out about it!

Sounds more like folliculitis, but of course no one online can or should make a diagnosis.  You should see a health care provider if this continues.

Did you really go and search the Archives on the STD forum?  There are about 10,000 questions and answers on herpes symptoms.  Not just looking on the current forum--to to the top, click Archives and under the topic Herpes.
